  • Uh, Chant...

You don't know about the Three Days of Darkness?  During the 3 days of darkness all who have not recieved the Sacrament of Confirmation will die.

Only Catholics who have recieved Confirmation will live, but even some of them will die.

Lights won't work, only beeswax candles that have blessed by a priest who uses the traditional blessings.

All those who are outside will die too, anyone who looks out the window will die, demons might enter a home that is not protected by prayers and sacramentals.

Holy water and other sacramentals and prayer will keep the demons out.

    It will get VERY cold.

A cross will appear in the sky as a warning for all to repent before the three days start.

You didn't take the Three Days of Darkness into account when you put this list together my friend.

  • Sorry for the confusion -- I forgot to include a heading that "this is an article I found"

I have heard about the Three Days of Darkness, but am not so sure that they will come to pass. It seems to make things too easy on the Elect (almost like the Rapture!) and that isn't God's way, if you look at history.

The Black Death was cruel to both the wicked people of the time, and the good. Same for World War I and World War II -- and these were EXPLICITLY punishments from God (according to Our Lady). In fact, it almost seems like the good suffer MORE than the bad. But for those who love the Lord, "all things conspire unto good."

So the good profit by the punishment, while the wicked do not.

  • Wow, yes, I have read the three days of darkness. Only confirmed Catholics will have a chance. Sad, that there are not enough real bishops around to give this sacrament to us. I for one have never been confirmed.

As a matter of fact, I heard the Islamofacist term tonight on Glen Beck's program, he was interviewing that Kathleen hαɾɾιs from Florida. She was involved some how or the other with the Bush win in Florida. What a strange women she is. Very tight with little brother Jeb in Florida.

  • I posted the article on it.  It doesn't seem like the Rapture to me, too many people die.

The Rapture was taken from "bible only" private interpreting Protestants.

But the 3 Days was spoken of by many saints, including St. Padre Pio.

  • Well, it's hard to say.

I'm not going to be stubborn one way or the other on it -- like I said, a seminary professor was VERY negative on that prophecy, but then my dad (who firmly believes in it) was telling me how many saints talked about it.

Either way, we should make sure we're spiritually prepared. Whether it's all hell breaking loose (literally), fire from the sky, or a nuclear h0Ɩ0cαųst, we have a lot of praying to do.

Well, the good would still suffer even after those three days. In the article to which El Campy linked, it says that there will be a scarcity in food for three years, I believe. Also, the cases of Noah and Lot should be considered as well.

  • Wait... you need to be Confirmed to survive the three days of darkness now? Is it me or is this prophecy always morphing into something more? Can anyone provide me a list of legitimate quotes from actual saints who spoke about this event? The three days of darkness is a lot like "Chinese Whispers"... by the time it filters on down you end up with Three Days of Darkness Purple Monkey Dishwasher.

  •   Yes, more info on the sacrament of Confirmation, please!  Where did you hear that?  My "confirmation" took place without benefeit of Baptism, and a few other oddball things.

  • Three Days of Darkness

Three Days of Darkness are claimed to be three days of complete darkness (mentioned by a number of saints or blesseds) where no man-made light will work, only blessed candles will be able to illuminate. It tends to be quoted together with much doom and gloom and fear (especially on the web), and confusion of this kind does not arise from God.

Did Padre Pio mention them or not?

No official website on Padre Pio does. There was evidence to the contrary, for example some websites had a purported letter written by Padre Pio, which in my opinion looks highly suspect in its contents. UPDATE: I have found a catholic book from the 1950's which actually states that Padre Pio denied giving this prophecy as did his superiors.

The Prophecies from the 19th Century

There shall come over the whole earth an intense darkness lasting three days and three nights. Nothing will be visible, and the air will be laden with pestilence which will claim mainly, but not only, the enemies of religion. ( Blessed Anna Maria Taigi)
Other Approved Catholic Prophecies On The Subject

St. Casper(Jasper) Del Bufalo (19th Century)

"The death of the impenitent persecutors of the Church will take place during the three days of darkness. He who out lives the darkness and the fear of these three days will think that he is alone on earth, because the whole world will be covered with cadavers."

Blessed Mary of Jesus, Crucified (19th Century) (the holy relics of this palestinian nun were in Malta this October 2004)

"During a darkness lasting three days the people given to evil will perish so that only one fourth of mankind will survive. The clergy, too, will be greatly reduced in number, as most of them will die in defense of the faith of their country."

    Venerable Isabel (Elizabeth) Canori-mora (1774-1825)

"As soon as St. Peter, the prince of the Apostles, had gathered the flock of Jesus Christ in a place of safety, he reascended into heaven accompanied by legions of angels, Scarcely had they disappeared, when the sky was covered with clouds so dense and dismal that it was impossible to look at them without dismay. on a sudden there bust out such a terrible and violent wind, that its noise sounded like the roars of furious lions. The sound of the furious hurricane was heard over the whole earth. Fear and terror struck not only men, but the very beast."

Marie de La Fraudais (19th/20th Century)

"There will come three days of complete darkness. Only blessed candles made of wax will give some light during this horrible darkness. One candle will last for three days, but they will not give light in the houses of the Godless. Lightening will penetrate your houses, but it will not put out the blessed candles. Neither wind, nor storm, nor earthquake will put out the blessed candles."

SAINT FAUSTINA was given this message by Jesus - you can find it in her diary:

"All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be a great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the Cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day.

What are some of the suspicious things which have been written, on the subject?

Without quoting who said what, some of the mostly incorrect writings such as that afterwards there will be a number of years of peace in the world (the MILLENNIALIST FALLACY, see the Catholic Catechism on this subject.). St. Thomas wrote on a similar writing, about the last 15 days before the return of Christ in glory. He actually quoted Jerome who did not claim this would occur. Jerome simply found the information in old Hebrew writings which actually was quite suspect.
How can 'days of darkness' be interpreted non-literally i.e. symbolically?

First of all the source of this imagery must be found in the Bible. The quotes are the following:

Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven; then, too, all the peoples of the earth will beat their breasts; and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet to gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)

A symbolic interpretation of this verse is that it refers to the apostasy mentioned by St Paul before the return of Christ. Fallen stars refers to incorrect doctrine being taught, and the loss of the true faith by some [ ADDED NOTE: we have seen a lot of this in recent news. Please keep praying especially for our priests. ]
Which recent seers have mentioned these 3 days of darkness?

Here is an incomplete list: Sadie Jaramillo. ( I read in a message: "Fire of My Purification is the Fire that will descend from the heavens to purify and cleanse the earth to prepare for the Time of Peace! It will cover the world with blackness, but those who believe will be prepared (the 3 Days of Darkness)." )
    When would this happen?

In the literal sense, it clearly has not happened. In the symbolic sense which is the sense of the Book of Revelation, after all, we may say it already has begun. You might not have noticed. Some have claimed that it happens after the tribulation. Not in the symbolic sense, however. In the symbolic sense it is part of it, or even precedes it. If you read the description given by Jesus to Saint Faustina, it seems to occur just before Christ returns in Glory. It is not possible to give a precise answer of 'when'. The proper answer is: do not worry, take care to live in a state of grace and just leave the 'when' and 'how' to God. If you keep expecting the sun to grow dark, it might never happen ! (especially if the actual sense is supposed to be symbolic) On the other hand it is generally accepted that the prophecy is a conditional one, and can be mitigated through mankind's response to grace. It also appears that, if they would occur, the '3 days of darkness' would occur literally at the end of the Great Tribulation, just before Christ's return.
What about the 3rd Secret of Fatima which is being sent by email which mentions darkness? Is that true?

It seems that that version was 'made up' (or spread) by a Benjamin Palacio. The version passed around in email in Malta is different in that the dates by which some things would occur, dates which have passed already, have been shifted to the future. Palacio's version stated everything would happen and 'finish' by 2001. The modified Maltese version of this hoax was read by Fr Colin Apap on Super 1 radio this October 2004. This fake fatima message even does not make reference to the released third secret. You can find the officially released secret here. Another 'forged' prophecy is the one which claims to be the 'diary of Pope John XXIII' - while this mentions days of darkness and chastisements it also mentions that by the year 2000 aliens will come from the skies to 'help' us. The year 2000 has passed of course. The purpose of prophecy is not sensationalism but a call back to the living God. Notwithstanding this, there are prophecies which mention darkness and some which mention earthquakes. Even the Apocalypse mentions earthquakes.

Some sites mention a fake lucia, or David Booth who says he spoke with Suor Lucia. Is this true?

David Booth in some radio interviews said that Suor Lucia called for him, and according to him she is not happy with how the secret was released and there is more which was not released. It is impossible to tell, so far, if he is telling the truth or not. He claims to have a videotape of his meeting with Suor Lucia. We will see if this develops further.

The guy who put together this page claims to constantly update it so here's the link: http://www.catholichealing.com/articles/threedaysofdarkness.shtml

I don't know wether catholichealing.com is a good site or not, but as long as the quotes from saints are good.

  • This guy says Padre Pio denies ever recieving visions of the Three Days, but he says he got this info on Padre Pio from a book written in the 50's.

Padre died in 1968 did he not?  Perhaps the claims of his speaking of the 3 days comes from after the book this person quotes.
