  • My 1962 Missal says this:

    For Conversion of the Jєωs

Let us pray also for the Jєωs: that our God and Lord would remove the veil from their hearts: that they also may acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ.

Almighty and everlasting God, Who drivest not away from Thy mercy even the Jєωs; hear our prayers which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of Thy truth, which is Christ, they may be rescued from their darkness.  Through the same our Lord.

In English this could be made to sound rather like the Jєωs must be pretty bad indeed and that it would be reasonable for a less merciful God to not be merciful.

Perhaps we should find some softer words so as not to offend the perfidious Jєωs Jєωιѕн people of goodwill.

"This prayer is among the most ancient; it dates back approximately to the 3rd century, and thus has been recited throughout the history of the Church as a full expression of the Catholic faith."
