On the topic of Christmas Trees. Is there anything of substance to the claim that trees are a pagan practice? I understand the story of St Boniface and the evergreen supposed to represent eternal life but I do see some cultural appropriation there.

Not sure, but even if it was, the Church has regularly appropriated and Christianized various pagan elements.
