if the series tends to make Traditionalists look bad I will notice that loud and clear, and I will be utterly unable to enjoy the show on ANY level.

I think that regardless of how Tradition is ever portrayed, it will always be repellent to the progressive / liberal types. Traditionalists will always look bad to people with such mentality, no matter what.

There is no way Tradition can "look good" and be appealing to the sentimental worldlings anyway, and that is OK.

Vatican II was an example of the Church trying to "look good" to the world. It failed.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

Let's put it this way -- if the character is portrayed in such a way that I am personally repulsed, turned off, disgusted even though I am deeply invested in the Trad movement, then YES it's bad.
Think CNN propaganda. Even fervent Trump supporters would have a hard time considering him anything less than a devil incarnate after reading CNN.com for as little as 5 minutes. It's the lies, distortions, and false portrayals that are the issue.

Now if a character were to be objectively attractive (in the movie we're talking about, let's say he's strong, anti-liberal, anti-feminist, masculine, etc.) which caused modern liberals to be viscerally repulsed, that is a COMPLETELY different story. Because at least then the portrayal would be accurate -- and many viewers of good will could be influenced and have their eyes opened.

  • Well, I enjoyed the couple of clips. I did notice the egocentrism that Ladislaus mentioned, on the second video. But overall, I like his attitude. I rather see this type of Pope and not this travesty:

Whenever I watch/hear Francis I nearly have a bad physical reaction.  It is really painful to look at him.  His facial expressions and manner of speaking make him come across as some complete and pathetic grown up sissy boy; a totally emasculated individual.  He gives the appearance of the total opposite of what you would want in a strong militant Catholic Vicar of Christ.   Can you imagine having to march behind this person into battle?  No, I didn't think so.  (And please don't take that as an endorsement of the ego driven actor playing the pope in the film either.)

What's funny, though, is that I've seen a number of modern films that, when showing a Catholic Liturgy in progress, make it look like a Traditional Mass (not sure if they were Tridentine or Novus Ordo Latin).  But even secular Hollywood recognizes the superior aesthetics of a Traditional Mass vs. the banal uninteresting Novus Ordo liturgical celebration.

I notice too that these modern movies begin by correctly displaying some elements of truth to then, just completely twist them and destroy them at the end.

    Such is the diabolical nature.

  • Indeed...

Hollywood recognizes the mysterious aspect of Traditionalism that is lacking in clown masses.
However, even Hollywood cannot duplicate the Sacred Mystery.
    Lord have mercy.
