  • Europe is a large continent containing many countries, the same as America. Germany is one of many countries in Europe. The article you published here is about Germany. It is about one particular case in Germany concerning a German law. It wasn´t about England or any other country. It wasn´t a European law. I think you have got rather muddled.
So which particular part of Europe is "Hell"? Do you mean that the whole of Europe is "Hell"? Or only one, or two, parts? I see you have the flag of a European country as your "avatar". Is this country part of "Hell"? If so, do you feel comfortable "flying" a flag of "Hell"?

I do not feel that I am living in Hell. I am living in a country where many evil and disagreeable things happen, such as the case mentioned by yourself. This sort of thing happens nowadays in every single country in the World. Including America. Do you live in Hell too? I am sure we could all find lots of examples on the Internet of horrendous things happening in America, or any other continent!
    Is the whole world Hell?

If that is true, then many, many good  & faithful Catholics must be in Hell!

Doesn´t the use of the word "Hell" for everything one finds disagreeable and sinful rather debase the meaning of the real Hell?

    Best Wishes

Re-read the article.  Germany is a leftist communist state that forbids true Catholics from practicing their faith.  By the way your Germany hates the SSPX and currently attempting to get Bishop Williamson imprisoned for life.

    Brilliant!

I know! That WAS rather bitchy of me, but I got a bit tetchy when I read all those generalisations here

    (See directly above!)

"My" Germany is a " left communist state"! Forsooth!!!!!!! :laugh2:

Funny? I go to an SSPX chapel and haven´t actually noticed that it has been burned down or that Father Steinle is in prison. Or that the entire population hates traditional Catholics. (They might be indifferent. Is that hate in your book?)

Oh. A friend of mine, who is a German traditionalist priest, disagrees with Bishop Williamson. I must ask him if he wants to put the Bishop in prison for life.
That is surely rather an outdated issue. One or two politicians ( the raving reds in the Christian Democrat government :roll-laugh2:) talked about bringing a charge against him, but most people thought this rather ridiculous. The majority of people are rather indifferent.

Do try and calm down and get your facts right.

Tell me, how many seminaries do they raid in other countries?  By the way I don't like that lobby in the SSPX that want's to toss Bishop Williamson 'under the bus'.

  • As far as I can gather, the police went to the seminary at Zaitzkofen to question the head of the seminary if the interview was made from there. This is very different from carrying out a raid. (Just because it says so on Cathinfo and Angel Queen is no proof. Is this how the police behave in America? Everytime they go to ask a question do they carry out a raid?)

Bishop Williamson was not threatened with imprisonment for life. He was fined. Two different things!

Bishop Williamson tried to get the interview stopped on Swedish TV through a German court. Why would he do this?

The SSPX distanced itself from Williamson´s remarks. Why did they do this?

Chancellor Merkel was severly criticised by her own party (which is the Christian Democratic Union - not left-wing communist!)  for insulting the Pope and provoking Catholics about the Williamson case.

The District Prosecutor´s action in Regensburg doesn´t reflect the attitude of everybody in Germany. It is an absurd and unjust law and much criticised. Like the death penalty in the USA.

  • When I think of the world of 1984, I think of hell on earth. That is what I meant by hell.

A world where everyone is a property-less "citizen", where you don't even have the right to raise your own children (like in Soviet Russia). Where you can't speak the truth without going to prison, etc.

That describes a hellish, intolerable world.

True, even the worst earthly regime is infinitely better than hell -- I was just coming up with a catchy headline. So sue me.

You are right about the fact that they are only fining him FOR NOW, in the end though 'they' will probebly not stop there, just watch and see.
Although the USA is far from perfect, our troops have never raided an SSPX seminary.
Bishop Williamson was never a German citizen and was not even in Germany when he told the truth on Swedish TV.  Yet they fine him.
I disagree with the SSPX's attempt to 'distance' itself from one of their own.  What does it hope to gain?
PS I have nothing against Germans.  I do not like the government of Germany, and the EU, and even the US for that matter.

  • Sorry, I don´t want to argue with you anymore. Pointless.

I don´t like ANY government and I certainly don´t agree with the stupid law telling people they can be fined for saying their own opinions - however wrong. I  think it is wrong to send people to prison for not wanting to send their children to horrible German schools. I certainly wouldn´t! I think there is now an SSPX school in Germany.

I objected to the generalisation of the orginal posting. It suggested that all European countries are corrupt because of one issue in one country - and that the USA is somehow better.
In fact, homeschooling is common in Britain and the movement is growing. It has been threatened by UN interference.
As far as I know, homeschooling has been banned in California.

So, it isn´t all of Europe who thinks like Germany. And it isn´t just Europe.

I think whether you are a citizen of a country or not doesn´t relate to whether you are charged under the country´s laws. If I came to the USA and shot you (only joking!!!!!!!!!!!) I would still be charged. There are a whole lot of horrible unjust laws here - as there are in the USA. Such as compulsory abortion......sorry I mean -- abortion on demand.

Unfortunately, Bishop Williamson wasn´t just seen as expressing his own opinions, but was seen as expressing the opinion of the SSPX and the entire Catholic Church. This is a sensitive issue for German Catholics as they are always accused of having collaborated with Hitler. In fact, many German priests were sent to Dachau cσncєnтrαтισn cαмρ, which was the camp for Catholic clergy. That was why the Bishop of Regensburg was mad at the SSPX. And it was also the Pope´s home town......so sensitive issue.

I agree with you there. I used to think that I was mad for finding the world  more and more disagreeable. Now, I have a context.

But, it is not confined to Europe. Everywhere is corruption!
It makes me want to weep when I see how Ireland has declined in such a short time from the most Catholic country in Europe to a den of drugged immorality.

OK! I will sue you and you sue me for exactly the same amount. And then we can shake hands. OK?

  • Greenhill, there are countless stories about the German Govt attacking homsechooling and prison for homeschoolers,etc..this includes children being snatched from homes,etc.......the Prussian school model is alive and well in Germany as well as USA.....Germany is going rather nihlistic, dont you think?

Also, you have a bloated socialist health and welfare state that consumes much of you GNP,etc......do not you think this is socialistic?

As a German-AMerican, I find my own nation, USA appaling, but soo too Geramny, who have been at forefront of this centralization and welfare for decades now, at least since late 1800's.....
Proud "European American" and prouder, still, Catholic
