If there were any quantity of thinking citizens left, we'd have an ιnѕυrrєcтισn by now. That's what this country needs, if stuff like this is allowed to happen! Where is justice? How did we become a police state? That's not the US Constitution!

I wasn't born into a police state, and I have NO LOYALTY WHATSOEVER to a police state. The United States of America is supposed to be based on the Constitution.

It sounds like something out of science fiction, or the history channel (Soviet Russia, nαzι Germany) or something from a 3rd world country.

So let me get this right...they thought it would be LESS traumatic for the kid to see this happening than having a bumped head?! Sounds more like they didn't want a family to assert their rights to refuse intervention of the state.

On the contrary, Britain is ahead of us. Over here in USA (United State of America) we can still buy guns and use them, (for now) but in Britain its illegal to own any type of firearm whatsoever, usable or not, real or antique. Am I right Adesto?

Yes, but that's been the law for a long time now. Britain has never been a gun-oriented society. Until very recently, our policemen never carried guns even.  It's not that we've lost the freedom of having guns, its that we never really used them.

Some people are allowed guns, however, with a permit. I know this because there's a gun shop just down the road from where I used to live!

Well there's your problem right there! The bible says that if you dont have a weapon to sell your cloak and buy one. In England I guess that means, If you dont own a gun, sell your endless suply of stupid biscuites and buy one! Cutting off the welfare to the Infidels moving over there would work too.

Of course, everything that the SWAT did was abominable. They could have done that in a better and polite way After all, they just did to Jon what the family's doing already. But why wouldn't the parents take their son to the hospital? The boy seemed to be in a critical situation and I think it's just fair enough to have a medical check up. Right?

Knives are more our thing- we have a lot of knife amnesties over here and whenever there's been a problem at work with security (shoplifting, fights etc) people have pulled knives, never guns.

Besides, even if I had a gun, I wouldn't be allowed to carry it around. Quite rightly so- either arm all, or none. I'm more for arming none. We've got enough problems in our country without people carrying guns around.

  I was just joking about the biscuites. I heard that the British eat a lot of biscuites. My cousin works as a truck driver for a company that sells all the safty equipment to the ships that come into the port of Houston. He always gets an invitation from the crew to come aboard and eat a meal prepared by the ships chef. (seriously, a chef!) He's been on almost every kind of ship from almost every nation and has eaten almost all of thier cuisines.(He says Spanish is the best and English is the worst! LOL! Just as I thought!) He says every time he eats on an English ship, every dish he orders biscuites is the main course! But I just wanted to say, dont take offense thinking Im putting the English down, Im just joking as always!

He always gets an invitation from the crew to come aboard and eat a meal prepared by the ships chef. (seriously, a chef!) He's been on almost every kind of ship from almost every nation and has eaten almost all of thier cuisines.(He says Spanish is the best and English is the worst! LOL! Just as I thought!) He says every time he eats on an English ship, every dish he orders biscuites is the main course! But I just wanted to say, dont take offense thinking Im putting the English down, Im just joking as always!

No offense taken, Samurai   I thought it was quite funny too. As for the accusation that English food is the worst  :scratchchin: I must admit we're not known for our haute-cuisine!

My grandfather was a Merchant Navy man, and they used to have biscuit races. Yes indeed, the hard tack biscuits they were given were often infested with weevils, and by placing the biscuits on their edge they could "race" them as the weevils inside would move around.

Thankfully, British food hasn't been quite so bad since the war  :wink:
