    • I am intrigued by the first part and the relative importance of this Islamic code of conduct.

    I happen to be friends with a Pakistani-Pashtun Sunni and an Iraqi (Sunni also) who understands well the Arab street.  This is the kind of  information you just can't google. I'll get their feedback monday morning.

    It goes downhill from there...  the rest is rambling.

    • Well, according to my buddies who are quite aware with the prescription, it only applies during the state of Ehraam. It might state otherwise, but this is one of those practices that even though it's written, it does not carry much weight outside of that period of time.
