  • As the British royal family celebrates its newest addition, Prince George, it's hard not to miss the grandmother he will never know, Princess Diana.

There is no shortage of pictures and stories, however, to fill the void, including the latest in the September issue of Vanity Fair, "The Grandmother Prince George Never Knew." The story details how Diana was "madly in love" with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, with whom she was in a two-year relationship before her death in 1997.

Their secret romance is also the focus of the film "Diana," starring Naomi Watts, which hits theaters in September.

"Diana was madly in love with Hasnat Khan and wanted to marry him, even if that meant living in Pakistan," her close friend Jemima Khan, the former wife of Hasnat's distant cousin Imran Khan, told Vanity Fair for the article.

Khan said Diana came to visit her twice in Pakistan to fundraise for Imran's hospital but also to secretly discuss marriage to Hasnat.

"She wanted to know how hard it had been for me to adapt to life in Pakistan and she wanted advice on how to deal with Pakistani men and their cultural baggage," Khan said.

According to the article, the former Princess of Wales even spent time with Hasnat's family while seeking the approval of his mother, Naheed. As Khan pointed out, "to marry an English girl is every conservative Pashtun mother's worst nightmare."

Ultimately, Diana's global fame proved too much for the relationship.

"Hasnat was a decent, intensely private man from a traditional, conservative Pakistani family, and he was worried about how it would work," Jemima Khan told Vanity Fair. "And he hated the thought of being in the glare of publicity for the rest of his life."

When their relationship fell apart, Diana began seeing Dodi Al Fayed, friends told Vanity Fair, in order to make Hasnat jealous.

Hasnat has never spoken publicly about their relationship and did not cooperate with filmmakers of the new biopic.

Diana and Al Fayed died in a fiery car crash in Paris while trying to escape the paparazzi.

  • No way is this part of the resistance.

Should have been posted under Politics and Political leaders.

Princess Di has never been my cup of Tea.

These stories are just crafted by the mass media in
getting your mind off in what is really going on in the
    world NOW.

This is just a dead and gone events of over 10 years
ago that needs to be forgotten, and move on.

  • British police are looking into new information that has surfaced in connection with the 1997 deaths of Princess Diana and her companion Dodi Al Fayed, Scotland Yard said today.

"The Metropolitan Police Service is scoping information that has recently been received in relation to the deaths and assessing its relevance and credibility," Scotland Yard officials said today in a statement. "The assessment will be carried out by officers from the specialist crime and operations command.

  • Poche, this is mere gossip....
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • I have to admit...why post this?  This seems excessive.  Do you simply want some sort of record somewhere of all the different news articles you thumb through?

I enjoy your science news references.  But an article remembering Princess Diana?  Meh.

  • Poche,

Why not offer your rosary intentions for the repose of Princess Diana's soul?

She did convert, albeit to the novus ordo version, before she died.

It's true.  Unless I am misinformed, she actually converted when the Anglican church started ordaining women as priestesses.

  • Coming from you. I will assumed it is TRUE. However, the British Royal
Family is known for supporting socialism and the occult.

The famous quote from Prince William,  After I die, I want to come back
as a virus to kill most of the population.

Look it on the internet, it is there in black and white.

Princess Di was known for her Liberalism, and I really doubt that she
    opposed women priests.

Someone wrote that she allegedly converted to N.O. Catholicism
because they cannot stand thought that anyone goes to hell these
    days.

I thought that quote from Prince William was particularly odious, unless he said it tongue in cheek.

I may have been misinformed.  I was a novus ordite myself back then.  What I told you is something that I believe to be true.

It seems a little strange that a woman who recently converted to Catholicism would be engaging in either adultery or fornication in such a public manner as Princess Diana was with that guy from Pakistan or wherever he was from.

Either way, Poche should offer his rosary intentions for the repose of the soul of Princess Diana.

If is was true if she converted to Catholicism, why them did she had
an Anglican Funeral Service in the Westminster Abbey presided by the
    Archbishop of Canterbury.
The presence of the Roman Catholic Bishops of England do not count.

  • Princess Diana lived a lifestyle worthy of Sodom and Gomorrah. She used to cruise gαy bars with the pervert Freddie Mercury while dressed as a man.

She actually had a private Catholic burial a couple days before the Anglican public one.  I specifically remember seeing footage of the beginning of the funeral.
