So, then - since you do not believe the Bible to be taken literally in meaning, this brings up a whole list of problems for you:

Do you not believe the world will end? He has promised it does.

Do you not believe He will remake the world with fire? He has promised He will.

Do you not believe in the General Judgment? He has promised it will happen.

Do you not believe you will die unless you eat His flesh and drink His blood? He has promised you will.

Do you not believe He created the earth and all the creatures in it, and the sun, moon, and stars? He told you He did.

Do you not believe He made the first man and woman and that we are descendents of them? He told you He did.

Do you not believe the earth and mankind fell due to Adam's sin? He told you they did.

Do you not believe He sent a Savior, Jesus Christ, to remedy the Fall? He promised it, and He did it.

Do you not believe Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead? He promised He would.

Do you not believe He previously punished the world and killed His creation, save 8 men, in the Great Flood? He told you He did.

Do you not believe Him when he says the sun moves around the earth? He told you it does.

It is all true - ALL of it. Not some of it. ALL OF IT.

Things to consider when reading the Fathers of the Church regarding the earth and sun:

1) The Fathers never say the earth moves, except at the end of time.
2) The Fathers always say the earth is at rest at the center of the universe.
3) The Fathers never say the sun is the center of the universe.
4) The Fathers never say the sun does not move around the earth, even in their scientific analysis of the cosmos.
5) The Fathers always say the earth is the center of the universe.
6) The Fathers always say the sun moves as the moon moves.
7) The Fathers recognize that some of the Greeks held that the earth moves and rotates, but they do not accept that teaching.
8) The Fathers hold that the earth was created first, by itself, and only afterward the sun, moon and stars.
9) The Fathers hold that light was created after the earth, but that this light preceded the light of the sun and stars.
10) The Fathers never held the myth of antipodes, (opposite side dwellers) people walking around the opposite side of a sphere.
