Seems our old nemasis is looking for new converts:

The pickings should be ripe for them right now.

There's a big anti-Catholic on an internet forum I used to frequent who said that all the Catholic condemnations of it gave him the idea to join.  He said they set him up with a job.  He had trouble with women, and now he's found it a lot easier getting along with them so to speak.

There are a lot of worldly advantages for those who join.

There are masons who attend SSPX masses.

I have a feeling masons with money who contribute to the collection plate would have more pull than poor anti-masons.

i cannot speak to the "women" item, but growing up in the south i can tell you that masons hold alot of power down here. Always have, since they are locked at the hip with most evangelical churches. In the old, pre-northern migration south almost every business leader, sheriff, banker and lawyer wore the ring. In most smaller southern cities and towns the prevelance is still strong. I grew up Catholic in the protestant south and have clearly seen the influence the lodge yields.

That's creepy.

Yes, the main reason to be a Mason is to get the big-money job and thus to score the beautiful wife who is after scratchola.  I'm afraid it is about as simple as that.

This seems to be one of the reasons my cousin in now a Mason.  He has a big money job in Pittsburgh.  He has a wife live-in girlfriend who is the NO Catholic divorcee of a Jєωιѕн accountant.  He has the life he always wanted and is very happy.  Since he is Southern by birth, his evangelical family has no objections whatever.  I am sickened by it.
