Firstly that's not how it works, you get high based on THC content and your tolerance to it. Same as alcohol strength and tolerance.
Secondly there is THC and CBD, the latter doesn't make you high. So if your aunt takes CBD that is that.
Thirdly people can feel good from alcohol without getting drunk, the same applies to weed.
I’m not sure what my aunt took, CBD, THC, both? It was by prescription 12 years ago. She died anyway.
My experiences with marijuana are limited. I’ve gotten mildly high via second hand smoke back in the 1970’s. Kids used to smoke joints in the bus on the way home from school. They’d close all the windows so after a while, you couldn’t help but inhale the stuff. The driver was this chubby fellow from Yugoslavia who was either afraid to say anything or he liked it. If he knew more than a few dozen words in English, it was news to me. Nobody said anything because of who was the supplier; a local guy involved in other nefarious activities. It wasn’t until April of that year, 1975, that the matter of the infamous “cannabus” at 4:15 was acted upon by school officials. Or maybe a few kids’ parents took action. A fair number of us non-druggies just found other ways home. In bad weather, I recall getting off the bus in the Fall in the pouring rain, and realizing as I walked down the driveway, I felt weird, a bit dizzy, like I woke up while sleepwalking. Then I realized I reeked of the stuff. Not wanting to involve my parents, I turned around and walked, half jogged around the new housing development, some ten blocks to clear my head and hopefully shed the smell. When I got home I lucked out. The door to the basement was open so I went right to the laundry room, stripped off my clothes into the washer, put on clean ones in the ready to go upstairs laundry basket and carried it along with my school bag. I made a quick stop in the bathroom to spritz and comb my hair with Wind Song cologne.
I soon figured out that if I had gotten high sitting 2/3 way forward in the bus, the driver was no doubt high as well, which was not exactly safe. I took to either staying at school in the library, that doubled as the public library until the late bus at 6:30 which got me home at 7:45ish, take the cannabus half way past the expressway, parkway, on/off ramps to BNL, and walk the remaining 3 miles, or just walk the entire 5 1/2 miles.
Once, and
only once, in college, I tried pot, and yes, I inhaled. It’s nasty stuff, worse than cigarettes, not as bad as a cigar. (I’ve never inhaled a cigar and it’s not on my bucket list.) They absolutely stink, all due respect to Pope St. Pius X!
I can enjoy an occasional drink without feeling effects. Weed is another matter. I don’t like the smell and I see no way to smoke it without unpleasant effect. Anything that gives me brain fog, makes me feel like I can’t think straight, no thanks!
