  • Supermarket shopper upset about purchasing limits throws steak at cashier, police say

    He was caught red-(meat)handed.

Authorities in Texas have identified an irate supermarket shopper who threw a steak at an employee after learning the store had implemented limits on the purchase of meats.

The Leander Police Department says the suspect, who was captured in surveillance footage, was shopping at an H-E-B at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Sunday when he was informed of the product limit. He then assaulted the cashier by throwing a packaged steak and a head of lettuce at the H-E-B employee, police say.
Following the incident, Leander Police shared a photo of the suspect and his white Ford Fusion on Facebook, asking for the public’s help in identifying the assailant. Police later confirmed they were able to positively identify the man, and thanked “everyone for their help.”

Leander Police did not disclose what specific assault charges the suspect was facing, but the department’s Facebook following was glad to see that he was one step closer to justice.

“Ugh..that is just awful!” wrote one commenter. “Those workers are busting their tails and risking their own health every day to keep us fed and ppl have to act like this.”

“I would ban this man for life from using any grocery store in the town where he lives!” another wrote.

  • If I were a betting man, I would bet money this comment was made by a woman.

So... let me get this straight...a man loses his temper out of frustration (quite understandable, in my opinion), so he literally deserves DEATH?

So this hapless man should starve to death because he lost his temper once?

Why not just crucify him, while we're at it? He deserves nothing less, right?

Let's keep in mind what the guy actually did. He threw a steak and a LETTUCE at the cashier. They can call it assault if they want, but that is an insult to the victims of ACTUAL ASSAULT. If the cashier did anything other than shrug it off as "no big deal", he/she was a complete snowflake.

But back to the comment in question -- the complete lack of proportion, sense of justice, explosion of emotion, petty vindictiveness, and lack of empathy could ONLY come from the guts of a female. No offense to ladies here on CathInfo. I know that you have developed a lot of virtue over the years, just as most of the men here don't give full rein to the vicious tendencies their sex inclines them to. Both sexes can be vicious and ugly if free rein is given to "nature".

UPDATE: I clicked on the link, and guess who was right? ME. It's no big deal though; once you understand human nature, you are seldom wrong or surprised in that department.

  • Well or taking the person literally he might just have to go to the next town to get groceries, every time, for life.  Still seems disproportionate but without knowing the area I can’t say for sure whether or not that would be a death sentence.  Currently I live between 2 different towns and either way we’re talking 10-15 minutes to the nearest grocery stores

  • I’d most likely laugh if that happened to me. I wouldn’t report it.

  • And did he wing both at the cashier or did he just toss it back in the direction of the cashier because it's where the counter is?

I don't know about banning him from every store but if I were the store manager of the store in question I would ban him from that one.

By all means, do. But don't forget to apply your employee's discount when you stock up on your Midol, Ms. Manager.

  • I just received the following email from my local grocer:  Names have been redacted. I live in a rural area.

    10:06 AM

    To our valued customers,

Our warehouse  Foods is experiencing fresh meat shortages at this time. Due to this we are having to limit the
10lbs Ground Chuck special to 1 per customer....The Corned Beef points did not come in as well.   We are not taking the Meat Bundle on the month orders at this time but we are monitoring the situation daily.

We THANK YOU for your patronage and looking forward to serving you!

May God Bless you all during these trying times...

  • I'm sure that steak and lettuce were quite dangerous, being thrown at speeds of up to 30 mph.

  • Yeah.  Maybe the employee got a concussion from the lettuce.

So...did they restock the meat?  Or just let it get wasted?  (5 second rule and all that.)

  • I don't understand why he took it out on the cashier because of a store policy? As if they have any control over that?

I don't know, seems childish to me. But this is the mentality of the man-children we have in this country today.

Bunch of spoiled brats who lash out on innocent people when they don't get their way.

A real bitch move is you ask me.
