    Certainly.

    Many of these humanitarian groups are compromised, corrupt, and not to be supported.

    If you want to give, give locally and directly. Go through your local church. It's harder to scam that way, when everyone knows you.

    That's why the Catholic Church used to be in charge of society's works of charity. The parish priest at each parish would know "enough" about each person applying for charity -- at least enough to filter out 99% of potential fraud and scamming.

    Compare that with the government. The latter is a complete faceless bureaucracy which wastes a huge % of monies on unworthy recipients. They don't know anybody. Everyone is just a form, just a social security number. No trust or lack of trust. No good or bad reputations.
