  • He can be compared to Benito Juárez, or even Oliver Cromwell. From lowliness to power does not always lead to good results I realize. Power can indeed corrupt.

  • I remember learning from one of our members here years ago that Lincoln tried to join the Masons before he died, but I did not know until hearing this video that he had already been trying to do so in his Illinois days.

As a matter of fact, over ten years ago when I was visiting family in Illinois, I saw the place in Ottawa where the first Lincoln Douglas debate was held. There is a Masonic lodge across the street from the park where it is at. I did a little research, and it was there at the time of the debate. Saint Columba Catholic Church a little up the street was around by then I just learned too.

  • Thomas Di Lorenzo has written extensively on the subject of " Honest Abe."  Let's just say he's not a fan.

Many of his essays appear on the Lew Rockwell site:

Happy Worst President’s Day - LewRockwell

Lincoln as He Really Was - LewRockwell

More accurately Masonic temple, not lodge.

Did you know that in 1795 Washington donated money equivalent to $1200 in todays $$ to build the first Catholic Church in Virginia?

100% truth. Has anybody else ever wondered why Lincoln is considered by so many to be one of the greatest presidents/moral men yet a cινιℓ ωαr happened under his watch which he actually pushed for? The same can be said for FDR when he got us involved in a World War under his watch. So many praise FDR as one of the geatest presidents baffles me just like how LBJ gets a free pass on getting us involved in Vietnam yet Nixon (who wasnt anything special) who got us out of it is blamed by most for Vietnam. It truly baffles me how people don't realize these facts.

It is believed that Washington converted to Catholicism later in life. Though it hasn't been absolutely proven.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

It is a mystery as to why someone would down vote this post.  As Meg mentioned, many believe that Washington converted to the Catholic Church shortly before his death.  Though that is not definitive, it has not been disproven either.  It is well known that Washington regularly attended Mass (as well as the services of other denominations, and he did donate money to build a Catholic Church.  https://www.mountvernon.org/george-washington/religion/george-washington-and-catholicism

If Washington was so Catholic he would have ended the satanic rebellion

Wasn't that 1776.  We are talking about 20 years later.  A lot can happen in 20 years.

Please elaborate on why you think he was worse than Lincoln.

Huh?  I am now confused, which is very easy to do.

Did you read my mind?  I was just about to type the following.

    Quote
So the USA is evil?  Or just the 13 colony part?  Many things were happening in the US at the same time.  Was the Catholic missionaries evil?

What should have been done differently?

Maybe the Catholics who came over should not have talked about religious freedom?
