Anyone who starts questioning the meaning of "day" in genesis is simply a modernist.  Scripture is very clear that "there was evening and morning" on the first day.  Day does not mean an age, or a period, or an epoch of time.  It means day.  God tells us to have the simplicity and faith of children.  Accept words as God created them to be understood.  That's called humility.  As if God couldn't create the entire universe in 1 SECOND.  So He spread it out over 7 DAYS, for a reason.

If you start questioning Scripture "I mean, does a day really mean a day?"  You're on the road to losing your Faith.

Sure, St Augustine was a big questioner of many things, but we only know this because he was a voluminous writer.  He wrote 1 thing and then changed his mind later.  He wrote a LOT.  There's a reason why Modernists love St Augustine, because you can find quotes on almost any topic, for different views.  He philosophized out loud, in the written word.  He was not consistent.

Given all of that, St Augustine didn't believe in evolution, nor did he believe in this modern-anti-church idea that Creation happened over millions of years.

The original Catholic Bible is the Latin Vulgate, so it is all the more suspicious when any newbie starts arguing it's modernism from the "Hebrew", in this case the increasingly suspect newbie "O Sanctissimus":

There has been no Magisterium that allowed "diēs" and "diem" anywhere, a fortiori in Genesis 1:5. as anything other than a 24-hour day or daytime."

The Judaizing bullshit line that (((O Sanctissimus))) offered about "יום" (transliterated as yom or yôm) originated with the PBC 1909. Consideration of Genesis 1:5, whether in Latin, Greek, or Hebrew, as meaning anything other than a 24-hour day has absolutely no Apostolic lineage.  Understanding of Genesis 1:5 as an epoch or anything other than a 24-hour day is de novo modernist heresy, subversive Judaizing bullshit.

Similarly, the Septuagint's ἡμέρα (transliterated as hēmera) in Genesis 1:5 has no Apostolic lineage.

Quote
Genesis 1:5
And he called the light Day, and the darkness Night; and there was evening and morning one day.
Appellavitque lucem Diem, et tenebras Noctem : factumque est vespere et mane, dies unus.

The consideration and process is getting very close to a "diagnosis."  :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2: The Newbie (((O Sanctissimus))) reeks of the stench of gefilte fish. Keep an eye on that יענטע (transliterated yenta, Yiddish meaning "an annoying talkative Jew bitch").

Oh, the irony!

Your responses to the drubbing you are receiving in this thread and in the "Telling" thread, https://www.cathinfo.com/the-sacred-catholic-liturgy-chant-prayers/telling/msg1040730/#msg1040730
include Gish Gallops. You too have "said a lot of things" at a rapid pace, many of which are false.

"Considering" that you claim to be a woman and have demonstrated a soft spot for an "evangelist" of the Judaized Novus Ordo (Nishant/Xavier/Telling), I wonder if you also claim тαℓмυdic heritage. Are you a convert from тαℓмυdic Judaism? I ask because a pattern, though not yet firm seems to be starting to coalesce. After all, the tribe is infamous for accusing others of things for which they themselves are much more demonstrably guilty (in your case, Gish Gallops, lies, incompetence, and hypocrisy). Do I smell the tainted odor of gefilte fish? In view of your penchant for "quadrupling down" on the serial lies you have told in the Telling thread. I allow for the possibility (likelihood?) that you will lie in your response here, but I ask anyway.

Further "consideration," while a disproportion of thumbs-down is not an objective measure of truth per se, your own disproportion of down-thumbs as a newbie is indeed an indicator that you lack credibility in and seem incompatible with the "Trads" this forum.
Well, I see that the agent of chaos is here.

For those who say that Genesis must be wrong because the earth can't survive without the sun, and the sun was created on day 4, they need to realize that light and darkness were created on day #1. There was light and darkness and there was morning and evening on the first day. Later, the light and the darkness were distributed.

https://www.drbo.org/chapter/01001.htm

[Genesis 1:16 footnote] "Two great lights": God created on the first day, light, which being moved from east to west, by its rising and setting, made morning and evening. But on the fourth day he ordered and distributed this light, and made the sun, moon, and stars. The moon, though much less than the stars, is here called a great light, from its giving a far greater light to the earth than any of them.
