The Mall of America hosted and promoted a drag show for “all ages” last year in its “iconic rotunda.”
And I find
that offensive as well. Would they, then, listen to me, and cancel the show?
Didn't think so.
I know there is a long tradition of cross-dressing simply as performance art, without any ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ or trans-gender-identity connotations (such as was
supposedly done at the Finocchio's nightclub in San Francisco, the character of Dame Edna Everage, or even Milton Berle's comic drag routines in the early years of television), but I don't think that's what is being promoted here.
