    • Kansas voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly struck down a proposed constitutional amendment that would remove language enshrining reproductive rights in their state, in a move widely seen as a victory for abortion rights activists.

    • I live here.  I think this is more a reflection of timeliness.  had this vote been 6 months after the overturning of RvW, emotions would maybe not have been so heated and may have gone thru.  Kris Kobach is running for AG here again.  he was good in that role, but I don't feel he has as strong a chance this time.   he may be too attached to the Trump train. it's a red state  but more of a classic pro business repub, dare I say RINO type place.  Also Johnson county, where I live is pretty darn blue and the certainly got out the vote on this issue

    A vote for the Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion.
    A vote against the Value Them Both Amendment would make no changes to the constitution of the state of Kansas, and could restrict the people, through their elected state legislators, from regulating abortion by leaving in place the recently recognized right to abortion.
    Shall the following be adopted?

    • When I expressed skepticism about the legal wording of the Dobbs ruling, the one thing I did forget to mention is that these people have already demonstrated that they can rig votes however they want.  So who knows if the people actually voted this way or if this was just another rig job.

    Well, according to Dobbs, the states are well within their rights to sanction murder, whether by popular vote or their legislators.  SCOTUS really needed to affirm that pre-born life is protected by the Constitution.

    Yes, but St. Mary's is only a small, small sliver of the Kansas population. I know Kansas is a flyover state, but it's not THAT unpopulated, where 4,000 Trads can dominate or even heavily influence the whole state.

    • I live in Kansas in one of the most populated cities and up until about 3 weeks ago I saw about 90% of the signs in people's yards and commercial properties of "Vote Yes Value them Both" but as time went a lot more of the "No. Stand for Liberty" signs were making their way and they eventually started to outnumber the Vote Yes signs.  Once this started happening I was doubtful that the good guys would win this one.  There was a 1000+ people protest about 3 weeks ago with raging harpies going on and on about "muh abortion rights, muh promiscuity, muh murder ok." and after that the "Vote No" signs started coming out of the woodwork and outnumbered the Vote Yes signs probably 2 to 1. 

    Final vote tally was 61.8 No to 38.2 Yes.  We didn't get completely smoked but it was a disheartening loss.  Most of the rural counties voted Yes but most of the populated counties voted No.

    • This loss is disheartening. Kansas is supposed to be a solid Red State, and they overwhelmingly voted for the murder of babies. Something is not right. I have talked to several pro-life advocates who are devastated by the vote.

    True, but that still does not explain that over 60% of Kansans voted for abortion when slightly over 50% of the entire Country is against abortion.
