Overpricing a book on Amazon does not necessarily mean that anyone is getting that price, right? I don't know if there's any way to see what things are selling for on Amazon. Does anyone know if there is a way to see what has sold and how much something sold for?
I did a search on Ebay for completed listings for this book and see that there was one listed from a seller in Australia for $80.00 (plus $74.25 for shipping) but the listing ended on 12/21 and the book did not sell. It seems to me that Ebay is a better indicator of what may be fair market value, or at least what price someone is willing to pay. So, since this book didn't sell, I seriously doubt that anyone on Amazon is selling their copies of this book.
I often wonder if putting an item into your saved shopping cart of Amazon and just leaving it there week after week without purchasing it will bring the price down. I have done that just to watch something and indeed, the price did come down. Whether that was a result of the seller being able to see that a potential buyer was watching something or merely coincidence, I don't know.
