  • Hilarious.

It's a good thing he owns a movie studio, I guess.

    He's gonna need it.

  • Ha ha.  Unfortunately, he'll be back.  He's just there to setup a new Amazon Prime distribution center for the rest of the galaxy.

  • Consider me a scoffer and a naysayer.

We'll never be able to land on the moon or any other planet God created. God arranged things so as to keep us right here on earth.

Is there a theological reason you deny the possibility?

My guess is that God did not mean man to go anywhere else, that earth was quite sufficient to his needs and he had no other "need" except pride.
    Remember Creation:
[26] And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth[27] And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. [28] And God blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and all living creatures that move upon the earth. [29] And God said: Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed upon the earth, and all trees that have in themselves seed of their own kind, to be your meat: [30] And to all beasts of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to all that move upon the earth, and wherein there is life, that they may have to feed upon. And it was so done.

Notice the bolded words. God says nothing about  having dominion over the moon or other planets, or filling and subduing the moon.
I expect that Matthew and others could come up with less "fundamentalist" theological reasoning.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • I like the passage that says the terrestrial glory is different from the celestial glory, etc.

We exist on the terrestrial plane, not the celestial one, and we cannot go there.

  • What passage would that be?

    1 Corinthians 15

    http://drbo.org/chapter/53015.htm

    Quote
[40] And there are bodies celestial, and bodies terrestrial: but, one is the glory of the celestial, and another of the terrestrial.[41] One is the glory of the sun, another the glory of the moon, and another the glory of the stars. For star differeth from star in glory.
    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

Even if I accept your interpretation here (and I'm not certain of it) I think you can plausibly argue that temporarily traveling to a place and spending a couple days there (leaving aside whether or not the moon landings really did happen) is different than "taking dominion over."  I think at the least, you'd have to actually establish a colony some other place to truly be said to be taking dominion over it.  If I take a trip to Italy to visit, am I taking dominion over it?  meh.

Byz, it's not an interpretation just a thought I put out there. I said "my guess is..."
Just throwing out there for whoever wants to have a pick.
But, hey! Didn't America "take dominion over" when they hoisted their flag? ;)
Italy doesn't count because it's already been taken dominion of.
