Norma McCorvey, who was 22, unwed, mired in addiction and poverty, and desperate for a way out of an unwanted pregnancy when she became Jane Roe, the pseudonymous plaintiff of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that established a constitutional right to an abortion, died Feb. 18 at an assisted-living facility in Katy, Tex. She was 69.......

  • Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,

You can thank Sarah Weddington for the legalizing of abortion. Weddington who is sadly still alive, used a young, naive, Norma McCarvey's case to get abortion legalized nationally. She had a lot of regret and McCarvey became someone who wanted to have it overturned.

  • Yes, thank you Nadir and JezusDeKoning.

When I first saw the news that she died, I had thought I heard somewhere that she ended up converting and regretting the whole thing - Deo Gratias for that. I have not been able to find out if she received the last rites, hopefully she did.

  • Norma McCorvey gave birth to three children but never experienced motherhood, so she died without the comfort of family. What a tragic figure. She gave up two for adoption and a relative raised the other child.

The pregnancy she had that became the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade came to term and the child was 2-1/2 years old when the conclusive decision was handed down. Her own lawyer had already had an abortion, so she could have helped Norma get one for herself, but instead she chose to use Norma and her child as a guinea pig to promote her agenda for legalization of abortion.

Ironically, her lawyer believed (effectively) that it was preferable for one child to survive so that tens of millions might eventually be killed. She USED Norma for her own selfish intentions, and she used her child as well, saving her life in the process, but not because she desired to save a life. Norma's baby survived as an irrelevant side-effect of her lawyer's work.
