  • This is a picture of Ballet around the 1600s, France. (Yes, the collar on the woman is a little low, but that can be fixed with extra fabric.) Is this immoral?

No where did I say in my previous post that I accepted the ballet costumes of today.  I was arguing that the actual moves of ballet for the most part were not immoral (except some modern day spins, but everything today is focused on sensuality, it is hard to get away from it and I am not envious of the men who have to live in this age.)  Ballets like Cinderella and the Nutcracker are not meant to be sensual.  They are just fairy tails (yes some Catholics will object to them because of the magic that is portrayed in them, which I think is silly because they will not object to the magic in the Lord of the Rings, or The Chronicles of Narnia.)
It's not appropriate for a man and women who aren't married to touch/hold each other.

A high proportion of male ballet dancers are ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ. It would be more of a temptation for them to be dancing with another man 🤣 I wouldn’t be worried about my daughter dancing with majority of male ballet dancers 😆

You'd be OK with your daughter associating with and dancing with....sodomites?

  • So the immodesty of ballet is clearly immoral, because it is totally unnecessary. For that reason, alone, and not as much the movements, it was right that the Church forbade Catholics from doing it.
I agree. It seems some people on this thread have not read the first post with the traditional quotes. I am surprised there could be any discussion after these quotes.

I will add another reason why we should not condone ballet: The training is clearly immoral.

How can you be a Traditional Catholic and agree parents could in good conscience send their innocent daughters to Ballet training?

There, these girls will be taught everything that is contrary to modesty: "Dress" in tights; do leg movements that uncover their private parts; etc. And doing it with other girls and even with "boys". And under the eyes of adult teachers. All the while, these girls are being told this immodest attire and these immodest movements are "ART".

How could such parents ask their girls to be modest at home and in society, and yet send them to Ballet classes?

The problem is: People forget Original Sin and its wounds. These are the real reasons Traditional Theologians and Saints have warned against Ballet and other immodest forms of activities.

Before Vatican II, the Popes ALSO condemned all sport activities that were conducted with immodest clothing for male and females.

Many people we associate with will not be in a state of grace.

Firstly your statement is admitting that they are touching each other, secondly being ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ doesn't make it right. :fryingpan: You should be worried about your daughter's and your own soul.

Quite right. Of course, that has nothing to do with needlessly sending your daughter off to fraternize and dance with sodomites

  • I did ballet as a child and felt weird (exposed) with the clothing that you had to wear. So, no, I wouldn't put my child in ballet since the leotards they make you wear is immodest. Many girls that I grew up with did competitive dancing, figure skating, gymnastics and they ended up being promiscuous. There's also a competition, also in gymnastics and figure skating, with who's the most flexible, can do the splits, do the craziest flips.

  • Mr G also saidWhich is part of the dancing....
Not all dancing gestures are impure.

Is it alright to dance when no one is watching?
