Matthew, I am writing this letter because I found myself applauding
you for continuing to clarify your position and thinking to myself
about the times that I have not bothered, once attacked, to put the
time into "proving it." Then it occurred to me that if I were
applauding you for having the personal integrity to stand up and
fight for your position, perhaps I needed to be more supportive than
a silent comment on this side of the computer screen. So, here is my
support, and it is couched in "I" statements, rather than attack
mode toward any particular "you" in the room.

I do not eat soybean products because of the high estrogen levels,
the linkage of soy products with memory loss, the reality that it is
difficult to get soy products that are not either made knowingly
with GMO foods or unknowingly contaminated, soybeans cannot be eaten
raw and I don't eat anything that cannot be eaten raw, and soy is
one of the food substances that has been thoroughly taken over by
the food mafia for use in bastardized "food products" which is not
    really food at all.

It doesn't really matter to me that it is consumed by people on the
other side of the planet - I'm not there and they aren't here. It
doesn't matter that "experts" say it's ok - after all, experts also
say that saturated fats are bad and I am absolutely clear about how
much the human animal needs saturated fats and how bad low fat diets
are. It also doesn't make any difference to anyone else on this list
that I choose not to eat soy. Each of us makes choices in life and
sometimes we share our reasons for those choices with others who
    express interest.

Here's a list of websites to support the claims I have made in this
letter that soybeans are not a good food to be eating today in the
United States. The first link should be enough to "rest my case"
without any further debate - it makes me sick to think of the people
eating processed foods made with soy who are totally unaware of what
they are doing to their bodies. It isn't so much that soy itself is
a problem, as per this article, but that it's extremely difficult to
get non-GMO soy in the US and GMO soy is a BIG problem.

All of us have been learning about the perils of trying to convince
someone against their will of the reality of peak oil - the same
goes for lifestyle choices and pretty much any other pattern of
thought. This is probably the biggest reason I usually don't bother
to get into "prove-it" matches when someone contests something I've
stated as fact on this list. Quite often, the attack becomes highly
personal. I might be looked upon by some as a blowhard (or other
negative connotation) because I don't bother to defend myself when
things turn nasty, by doing hours of research to support my
position. I simply have better things to do with my time. If I make
a statement that seems off the wall and someone gets interested
enough to pursue the question, they are perfectly free to do the
same research I have done and discover the truth for themselves - or
not as the case may be. It also doesn't really matter to me if
someone decides I'm not worth much - that isn't going to change my
life any. In point of fact, the reason I don't often "prove it" is
because I already KNOW the answer and I don't really care if whoever
has their knickers in a twist figures it out. The purpose of this
list is to share information. I do that. What happens to it then is
    someone else's concern, not mine.
