  • I've decided to actually read the docuмents of Vatican II straight through. However, I want to do it by using a book that also critiques them. In other words, the book will present Gaudiem et spes - for example - as written, and will then proceed to expose its modernism. I want a book that does something like this for all the docs of VII. Do you know of such a book?

  • Unfortunetly, I do not know of such a book. I have read a few paragraphs from the docuмents, and can say that they do admit some of the modernist stuff they did, but also weren't exactly honest with everything they were doing.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

No such book exists.  All of the controversial stuff is extracted from the Council and commented on in various articles, magazines and books.  All that is left of the texts of VII are essentially non-controversial, which is actually large portions.  That doesn't change the fact that they need to be abandoned and rewritten in their totality as a true, clear and precise exposition of the entire Catholic faith, the very thing they purported to do.  That's because they are all "linked" together by certain key ideas interspersed throughout and presupposed underneath the text.

Ah yes, I have that book. Perhaps it's time to actually read it. Thanks for the reminder.

By the way, I recently saw Amerio described as "the greatest traditionalist thinker of the twentieth century." Here:
