Sudanese government planes deliberately targeted a hospital during a bombing campaign in southern Sudan, a Catholic bishop charges.
Bishop Macram Max Gassis, the retired Bishop of El Obeid, said that a bombing raid in the Nuba Mountains, where government troops are fighting rebels, aimed at the Mother of Mercy Hospital. He said that the targets were chosen after drone aircraft scouted the area.
No one was killed by the bombing run, and only one serious injury was reported. Residents in southern Sudan said that the Khartoum government is trying to drive civilians out of the contested region
