Homeschooling skyrockets as more parents get fed up with Left-wing social engineering and violence in public schools

(Natural News) Thanks to the incessant Left-wing counter-culture social engineering and increasing levels of violence and bullying, more American parents are pulling their kids out of failing government schools and teaching them at home.

As reported by The Washington Times, the recent school shooting at Parkland, Fla., was the last straw for scores of parents. The paper noted that “the phones started ringing at the Texas Home School Coalition, and they haven’t stopped yet.”

The Times added:
The Lubbock-based organization has been swamped with inquiries for months from parents seeking safer options for their kids in the aftermath of this year’s deadly school massacres, first in Parkland and then in Santa Fe, Texas.

“When the Parkland shooting happened, our phone calls and emails exploded,” said coalition president Tim Lambert. “In the last couple of months, our numbers have doubled. We’re dealing with probably between 1,200 and 1,400 calls and emails per month, and prior to that it was 600 to 700.”

While the debate rages anew over familiar topics following such tragedies — tougher, more restrictive gun control laws and bolstering security at public schools — the revolution in homeschooling has been taking place quietly, behind the scenes and off the radar screens of most political organizations.

But again, it’s not just the shootings, which admittedly have increased in the past couple of years. Christopher Chin, head of Homeschool Louisiana, told The Times that parents are fed up with “the violence, the bullying, the unsafe environments.” (Related: Learned: Minnesota public school forcing KINDERGARTEN students to study ‘WHITE privilege’)

Much of this is due to outright negligence on the part of local government-controlled schools. In the case of Parkland, for instance, the accused shooter — Nikolas Cruz — was a known threat to the community (and the FBI), but he was nevertheless placed in an Obama-era program called PROMISE, which was originally aimed at shielding “minority” school kids from arrest and prosecution for certain crimes.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Superintendent Robert Runcie initially said that no, Cruz wasn’t in the program — which was a lie. He was
“One of the things we’ve seen definitely an uptick in the last five years is the aspect of violence. It’s the bullying. That is off the charts,” Chin told The Times, citing a primary reason parents are more concerned today than ever about leaving their kids in a public school.

The Left is driving more kids OUT of public schools
There is also the Left-wing social engineering. The craziness over transgender students and bathrooms/locker rooms, allowing students to “take a knee” during the playing of the National Anthem, the Left-wing curriculum, and refusing to allow students to wear shirts that praise POTUS Trump or feature the American flag are also driving parents into homeschooling.

The violence, though, is the biggest issue.

Brian D. Ray, who heads up the National Home Education Research Institute, in Salem, Oregon, who’s conducted homeschooling research for 33 years, told The Times that concern over school safety has reached the top of the charts for most parents.

The times noted:
He said the top three reasons that parents choose homeschooling are a desire to provide religious instruction or different values than those offered in public schools; dissatisfaction with the academic curriculum, and worries about the school environment.

“Most parents homeschool for more than one reason,” Ray told the paper. “But when we ask families why do they homeschool, near the top nowadays is concern about the environment of schools, and that includes safety, pressure to get into drugs, pressure to get into sɛҳuąƖ activity. It includes all of that.”

In 2017, the U.S. Department of Education estimated that 1.69 million kids between the ages of 5 and 17 were homeschooled, based on spring 2016 numbers. And that data comes just from the 15 states that track homeschooling, as well as Maricopa County, Arizona (Phoenix).

That number is only going to increase unless the Trump administration can reverse decades of Alt-Left manipulation.

  • If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

My son was also homeschooled, but his wife does not want to homeschool our grandchildren.

    .
Most states allow grandparents to homeschool their grandchildren.
    .
This is one on the list of requirements for potential spouses for my children.

I'm afraid that most parents who oppose homeschooling will also oppose the grandparents doing it for the same reasons.

Even if their spouse was homeschooled?

I hear very few arguments in favor of public or private school anymore.  The harm just doesn't outweigh the good.

How old are the children? And has she tried out the school system yet? Is she against hs per se or is she not confident of being able?

Yes, she loves the public school system, while I fear for the lives of my grandchildren. Not too long ago, they had a school shooting nearby, so that all the nearby schools were under lock down, and parents did not know where they had taken their children. It's insanity.

When I called her  to insure that our grandchildren were safe, she went ballistic because I did not trust the system.

Government schools are neither safe nor are their teaching methods sound.

  • Wow.  That is so scary....

There was an attempted shooting about an hour from us; but the teacher tackled the student and got shot in the shoulder.  He was in MIDDLE school for pity's sake!

So they lockdown the kids now?  What's to prevent them from having false lockdowns and just taking control of the children for a couple days at a time?  And then weeks...and months...in fact, maybe they shouldn't be allowed to go home.  You know, so they don't have access to any weapons.  EVER...Frightening to think of.

Not to mention the negative mental/emotional impact that's being made on these young children!

  • What brought me to the truth of the Communist/mason run public schools was a mormon who gave me books to read.  Then the Governor (mormon) of AZ in 1990 asked me to read Federal Grants.  Wow!  I was shocked of the truth.  The Dioceses was bringing sex education into the state.  They were being paid by the federal gov't, handsomely!

Next, I went to our public school (!990) and asked to view the sex education video.  No problem, but I knew something they did not expect me to know.  I asked to view the video that my child would see, and I did not wish to view the video for parents.  Then the whole story changed.  I would not see any video that day or ever.  I took our 3 children out!  Home schooled.

  •  Judge upholds transgender bathrooms: Female ‘students do not have a fundamental privacy right’

    Quote

    OREGON, August 7, 2018

(LifeSiteNews) – Boys will continue to be allowed in girls’ restrooms and locker rooms in Oregon after a judge dismissed a lawsuit against that policy, saying, “high school students do not have a fundamental privacy right to not share school restrooms, lockers, and showers with transgender students whose biological sex is different than theirs.”

Students who are unwillingly subjected to seeing students of the opposite sex are not having their rights violated, U.S. District Judge Marco Hernandez wrote.

This ruling “reveals everything people need to know to understand the utter corruption of our court system,” Julie Quist, Board Chair of the Child Protection League (CPL), told LifeSiteNews. “Decency and respect for our children…are being cast aside for the political advantage of a militant political force that is systematically violating the innocence, dignity and freedom of our children and all of us.”

The lawsuit against Oregon schools allowing boys in girls’ restrooms and vice versa was filed by parents and students in Dallas, Oregon. This gender-free policy caused “embarrassment, humiliation, anxiety, intimidation, fear, apprehension, and stress produced by using the restroom with students of the opposite sex,” they said in the lawsuit.

The problems began when the Dallas School District allowed a girl to change in the boys’ locker rooms. She didn’t like changing in the gender-neutral bathroom because it was too far away and other students noticed, according to the Washington Post.

“This ruling, and others like it, is a hostile takeover,” Quist continued. “CPL urges parents to immediately begin to take steps to remove their children from any public schools where this policy is being enforced, and to take seriously a new burden of their responsibility of citizenship to throw out all incuмbent elected officials everywhere who will not fight for them. If we love our children, it's that important.”

School districts across the country have faced a slew of legal issues over whether to allow gender-confused boys in girls’ restrooms or hotel rooms on school trips and vice versa. The Obama administration threatened to pull federal funding from schools that didn’t enact transgender-approved policies. The Trump administration dropped that effort.

In 2017, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case about transgender school bathrooms, kicking it back to a lower court.

Recently, the number of children who are homeschooled has been rising anywhere from three percent to eight percent each year, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

My older two kids started off in the public schools. I volunteered at both their schools. I pulled them out when my middle child was halfway through 1st grade. I tell parents who think the schools are ok, to go volunteer for an afternoon. By the end of the day you will be withdrawing your children. My youngest never attended the gov't cesspools.

    .

My own father opposed my decision to homeschool. I gave him this book by John Taylor Gatto, Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Education, and he became my biggest defender of my schooling my children.

These books by Samuel L. Blumenfeld are also excellent in being able to articulate a coherent response to homeschooling critics.
