My nephew (in New Hampshire) was given detention because another child barked in answer to a question from the teacher. He turned around and said, "You're a human. Use human language." The idiot teacher thought my nephew was in the wrong. I was quite upset to learn that my brother-in-law didn't give the principle a fat lip (at least figuratively) for this and reject the detention. I don't have much contact with that part of the family, so I don't know what kind of real-life lesson my nephew actually learned from this experience.
This kind of crap really does happen. Maybe not so much in Oklahoma, but frankly, after taking the kid to the pound, they need to arrest every adult who allowed and encouraged this. I finally have found a valid reason to forcibly remove children from homes.
