  • "Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."  -- Thomas Jefferson

           FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

    1.  An armed man is a citizen.  An unarmed man is a subject.

    2.  A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

    3.  Colt:  The original point and click interface.

    4.  Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.

    5.  If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

    6.  If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.

    7.  Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

    8.  If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

    9.  Those who trade liberty for security have neither.

    10.  The United States Constitution (c)1791.  All Rights Reserved.

    11.  What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?

    12.  The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

    13.  64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

    14.  Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.

    15.  Know guns, know peace, know safety.  No guns, no peace, no safety.

    16.  You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

    17.  911:  Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.

    18.  Assault is a behavior, not a device.

    19.  Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.

    20.  If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.

    21.  Only a government that is afraid of its citizens and has something to hide tries to control them.

    22.  You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.

    23.  Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.

    24.  When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.

    25.  The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

  • A registered gun is a confiscated gun.  Criminals don't register their guns so only the honest law abiding people will have their firearms confiscated by those with the willingness to do so.

Check regulations in your state and then head to your nearest gun store.  If allowed in your state make a purchase from a private citizen so you do not have a defacto registration by the "insta-check" system.

I have no problem with gun registration as long as it doesn't itself become discriminatory or too burdensome.

In the wake of many shootings in America by people who should not own guns, I agree.

  • "Gun registration." :laugh1:
"Kindness is for fools! They [modernists] want to be treated with oil, soap, and caresses, but they ought to be beaten with fists. In a duel, you don't count or measure the blows, you strike as you can. War is not made with charity. It is a struggle, a duel." -- Pope St. Pius X

  • If this were true then America, being the most armed state in the world with 50 percent of the guns but less than 5 percent of the world's population, should also be the state with the most freedom.

That being the case, why are there so many threads on this forum about leaving America and so many complaints about the near totalitarian control of the US government?

The discontent of which you speak is unrelated to guns but connected to the cultural and government shifts going on in the U.S.

As you already know, those threads are places where it is easy to talk about something that the poster has no real intention of carrying through with the plans.

I think only a couple states require the gun to be registered.  I think New York may be one of them.

Illinois, the most gun control friendly state in the U.S., a place that I thought because of the crooked Chicago control of the state, a state I thought would be the last hold out, has actually passed a concealed carry law.

In all, I think 42 or so states have concealed carry laws and, to the best of my knowledge, 3 states have no laws whatsoever - meaning that you can buy a gun, carry it, keep it, store it, do anything you like, with no requirement for training, or licensing and that two of these states are not holdovers from the Old West but that the changes in the state law happened within the last ten years.

  • Missouri is concealed carry permit-friendly; and even concealed knife-friendly, at least that's my experience. After being stopped by cops on two separate occasions (I guess for looking "suspicious" when jogging at night), they had no problems with me carrying a knife, notwithstanding the fact that I was even standoffish to a cop during one of the incidents.

But the quotes are nearly all about how not having guns makes society more controlled and the citizens less free.  Americans have far more guns than any other country.  So you should be far more free, shouldn't you?

The right to keep and bear arms, yes.  The right to be free from onerous and tiresome regulations, not so much.  As for the federal government literally looking the other way and even encouraging massive immigration from unstable countries, well, the revolver only comes in handy if one of these immigrants is kicking in your front door but that same revolver is futile against that same immigrant refusing to pay taxes by working "under the table" while receiving welfare payments and WIC.

A government that bans self-defense is a government that sees it's subjects as untrustworthy.  If a country bans self-defense by banning guns, it would then cheat in its crime stats to give a false impression of safety.

England wasn't always a gun control haven and in the past made the greatest side by side shotguns the world has ever seen.
