So ... I'm rather skeptical of these NDEs. Many are filled with heretical and new-agey stuff, many spewing heretical ideas ... and I have yet to see one where the entity (some see relatives, some just "guides", some Jesus, some just a generic all-powerful loving entity), I have yet to see where said entity affirms some uniquely Catholic truth.
I've seen accounts where people living in sin (unmarried fornicators, divorce-remarried, and obviously not Catholic) just go to a place of perfect love, peace, and happiness.
Not sure yet what's going on, but I sense a mix of ...
1) people making stuff up (since this topic came into vogue, people could just make something up to get attention, views on Youtube, etc.) There's really no way to disprove it. So, a combination of the rise of social media (people wanting their 5 minutes of fame and/or wealth) and NDEs becoming more and more fashionable, many are probably just frauds. There are plenty of fraudulent private revelations out there. That reminds me, Nishant at one point was promoting one that was clearly fake, condemned even by the Novus Ordo Bishop (of Cleveland here) ... where the woman "visionary" left her husband (since he didn't believe her) and shacked up with a guy who did believe in her visions (with every indication that she was having an adulterous affair even before any purported annulment, and I don't think she even bothered with that). Sorry for the digression.
2) people in partially unconscious states having hallucinations. Even if you're "dead" for a few minutes, there's very likely a bridge period between being fully unconscious and partially conscious, where you can enter a dream-like state. Just takes a minute or two or even a few seconds for the brain to concoct some dream-like halluciation.
3) diabolical program to cause people to become indifferent to sin (as very many of these episodes find people living in sin in the "good place") and indifferent to religion (no affirmations of the Catholic faith, and often of religion at all ... just telling people to love other people)
4) possibly a blend, where the soul (or, rather the animal soul) does leave the body ... where people rise above their bodies and can report on things that happened while they were unconscious and shouldn't know, but then the devil gets involved and injects himself into the experience with various fraudulent stimuli
