  • I have opened up a facebook page for those interested in praying and making sacrifices for the prophesied Great Monarch.  The page can be found on facebook under Great Monarch Community.  Please do not post discussion on that page as it is not accepted and will be deleted.  This however is the proper forum for discussion and so I will begin this round table with a simple question.  How is the great monarch going to go to war with a sword when we live in a world filled with ballistics, firearms, and explosives.   Any thoughts???

  • I don't know if you noticed lately, but things like swords kill and injure people just as well today as they did back then. Blade weapons are still in use by militaries world wide for close combat situations because they still happen in modern warfare (swords though aren't the weapon of choice anymore). There's nothing in prophecy however that says he'll forgo the use of modern weapons.

  • If the great monarch prophesies are true and a real great monarch comes, I would guess his army will use guns and tanks and maybe even nuclear weapons, unless it comes after a great chastisement which upsets the world order and destroys all modern technology.

  • Even in armies that primarily used rifles and cannons in the Napoleonic era, like the previous poster said, they still used swords for close combat, and officers often used them as instruments to point and make other gestures with to the troops under his command.

If he uses Nuclear weapons, he's not the saintly Great Monarch. No good Catholic could or would utilize such indiscriminate killing devices.

They could, and would, if the situation demanded it.

There's such a thing as a "battlefield nuke", smaller than a "theater nuke" or tactical nuke.

If they're on the battlefield, they're you're enemy.

  • very interesting....has anyone considered the possibility that when he goes to war and in battle that he will be in ecstasy considering he will be a gimp?   Perhaps modern weapons are not what God has in mind for the world.  Does anyone recall blessed Alexandria of portugal who had a broken neck, but every Friday got up and suffered the passion, only to become paralized again afterwards.  I think that a man is not so terrifying, but a man that God uses as a weapon is the kind of thing that makes people shit their pants.   Any thoughts???  I mean in modern warfare the great monarch is going to be high profile, and it would be very easy for a team of snipers or special forces to blow his brain out, don't you think.  High profile target i would imagine.  Plus his army is supposed to be very small to begin with.  I think only God can accomplish the things in those prophecies as they are not humanly possible.

Thanks for the distinction. The latter is what I had in mind.

Well fighting while in a state of ecstasy would be a first, but I don't think it's likely. Time will tell how he manages to fight disabled.

The Great Monarch is hidden in plain sight by God in addition to being guarded by angels to protect him from any attempts on his life, like the Holy Family was from Herod.  He won't be revealed to the world till the last moment, when the enemies of God are powerless to stop him.

  • Let us remember to pray for our Holy King in concrete form;  the rosary, Adoration, sacrifices, and fasting.  As King Baudouin said: it takes ten years of peace to make a man, and ten seconds of war to destroy him.  How many of us pray for him....so few, and for this his time is delayed.

  • Ah ha! Username124! You made a few comments on Catholic Answers a few months back, including one about a "psychological profile" you made up for the GCM. Care to elaborate on how exactly you formulated that? What was your methodology?

Quote from: Username124 (Catholic Answers) http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=942301
I have a psychological profile of him, because I profiled him. Here it is briefly. It is important to remember in this profiling that up until God reveals him to the world he will be much like a fish out of water. His profile after he comes to power will be vastly different, but than the world will have changed so much.

This man will have a relationship with God so deep that it will cause him constant grief in modern society. He will have intimacy issues and suicidal tendencies. He will have trouble connecting with people and have a constant sense of being misunderstood. He most likely will be shy and suffer from loneliness. He will be profoundly penitential. He will have much difficulty finding guidance in his life. His views being contrary to modern thought will place him at a severe risk for being labeled as mentally ill. He will have trust issues that leave him in a constant state of dread and fear. Most likely he will flee the world either to the wilderness or to a Monastic community. He will feel that the worlds problems are his own, and may become disillusioned. He will struggle with activities of daily living, and suffer from depression and isolation. He will have difficulty finding a realistic support structure, and will encounter much hostility in regards to his mystical nature. He will be altruistic and have a deep respect for the lowly of this world. At some point in his life he will have a major identity crisis, that threatens his whole sense of existence, self esteem, self worth, and his place in the world. He will be traumatized by the force of human resistance to God's Will. He will have anger issues and feel conflicted about war, violence, justice, and mercy. He will be hyper-intelligent and a searcher. There is a High Possibility that he will disbelieve in himself and his own capabilities. He will not be fond of technology or technological advances. He will prefer rural living to urban environments and will be a minimalist. It is not improbable that he will suffer from paranoia, disassociation or lose his sense of reality all together. He will live with great confusion in his heart.
    Fortuna finem habet.

  • I applied psychology to what the prophecies say about him. Here is a list of attributes known.

    very Poor
tried by a long period of disappointment
    in confrontation with the hierarchy
    thinks differently than the world
    is a mystic

I could be entirely off base, and much of it would depend on his family and upbringing, but he is at risk for being subject to an ill thinking society.  you seem to be stuck on that though.  What difference does it make what I think.

Well, it's interesting.  Could you back up each point in your profile with a reference to an actual prophecy?
