  • We need to start one.

But before we can convince others to join in, we need to trailblaze a path ourselves.

For example -- what is a good E-mail provider that lets you check your mail on your mobile and desktop via IMAP? That's why I switched to Gmail to begin with; my old-fashioned POP mail accounts are only meant for (1) desktop machine. When you have multiple machines, or you want to be able to check your e-mail on multiple machines including mobile, you need more of an IMAP (webmail) solution -- if your e-mail account has "folders" that need synchronizing then it's probably IMAP/webmail.

Switching search engines is pretty easy: duckduckgo.com

Switch to Android for your next phone. Although Google made Android, there are completely open-source versions of Android out there (which you can switch to eventually), where Google gets no information, tracking, etc. Nothing is hidden when the complete source code is available. You will never be able to say that with Apple, which is closed source/proprietary.

We need something like #WALKAWAY, only for Social Media.

I say "Google", but I really mean twitter and FB as well. It's time to take away their power. It's time to walk away.

Watch "The Creepy Line" -- it's a real eye-opener. I have to get Google out of my life -- at least from as many places as possible.

A good email alternative that I've discovered is ProtonMail. It's a Swiss company, so it follows that country's strict laws against data collection, and is one of the only companies that offers a free encrypted email service. I set up an account a while ago.

They have IMAP support, as outlined in this article, but it requires the installation of a separate app.

  • Already moved away from Google Chrome search engine, and also moved away from Gmail.

Soon, I will completely boycott YouTube (owned by Google), in favor Bitchute, et al.

    Screw Google.

I used to do both also, then I learned that Startpage is "powered by Google" so I switched to Duck Duck Go.
Startmail is worth the $5 a month.

    I'll sign on to that.
    Let's boycott Amazon also.

Eh.... I can't get behind that. It's the first place I go to buy anything. I just looked it up -- we've placed 151 orders on Amazon.com for the year 2020 so far. And Christmas season isn't even here yet -- we spend probably 99% of our Christmas budget on Amazon. Not only our own Christmas budget, but the budget for one of the grandparents as well! And we have 8 kids, so that's quite a chunk of change.

I can't part with the free 1 or 2 day shipping, and not having to go shopping outside the home. Especially considering A) I don't live in the city B) I'm ridiculously busy and C) the COVID nonsense with mask requirements.

It's not like I have a bunch of mom & pop shops around me anyhow. They're already long gone. It's either support Amazon.com or support Wal-mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy. Those guys are 100% as bad -- only I'd have to waste hours of my life driving to & from those stores as an added insult.

Living a completely principled life with no compromises LITERALLY means making all your own material things as well as growing all your own food. I've said this before. You'd have to be self-sufficient to a degree that almost no one is today. Do the Amish even make all their own tools, building materials, food, etc.?

I used to use Protonmail for a couple of years, but they have released information on accounts to foreign governments before so they're not as trustworthy as they might seem. I use a fastmail account now, it's great.

Email is not as secure as they would have you believe. Anyone you send email to, gmail, hotmail, whatever provider it is, it will be decrypted on their end and is readable, regardless if you use protonmail or not, so Protonmail is pointless to a large degree and pretty much just marketing.

There is no truly secure email hosting provider unless you set it up yourself and manage it yourself.

    Encrypt Message for Non-ProtonMail Recipients

ProtonMail has an easy built in solution to provide end-to-end encryption for messages sent between ProtonMail Email addresses and Non-ProtonMail Email addresses. These messages do not require the recipient to install additional software or sign up for ProtonMail.

Please note, messages sent encrypted to non-ProtonMail recipients will expire after 28 days by default. You can learn more about expiring messages here.

    Here’s how it works:
    1. The ProtonMail user composes a message in ProtonMail:
    2.  Select the Encryption button in the bottom left of the compose box and  enter a password and password hint (if desired), and select set.

    3. Upon sending the message, a generic message is delivered into the recipients mailbox, providing them with a unique link to open the encrypted message the ProtonMail user has sent. In addition, this message contains the subject of the message, and the unique password hint if the ProtonMail user has designated one.

  • If you pay $60 per year for Startmail, you also get encyription. Both sender and receiver must use it. I don't because I think it raises a red flag.
