There is one other angle that I would like to address while I'm at it. This business of semantics is nonsense. I can see why Vox is thinking like that, BUT the point of any passing on of knowledge is for people to grow up. If we must disguise what we are saying or water it down for the kiddies, we have created a condition of stasis, not growth. Does Vox have any plan for the matriculation of these people? Does she have a forum of higher learning?
Well, I guess that "forum of higher learning" is now called CathInfo.com
I wish to share with you a bit of imagery:
Picture a playground at recess time. A few unpopular 2nd grade students are having a spat with the main group of kids,
who are playing baseball. Their leader sneers, "If that's the way you're gonna be...then we're gonna play baseball by ourSELVES...over THERE!" and then they go off in a huff to a corner of the playground, where the 3 kids somberly pretend to play baseball. "That'll show them!", one of them pouts.
That scene is NOT a metaphor of what just happened on Fisheaters. It is true that Vox's recent crackdown on the Zionism forum (and destruction of the Wild West forum) was the catalyst for the creation of CathInfo.com, but it wasn't the only reason.
It would be more like a group of kids that wanted to play football instead of baseball, and they went off to start a game. There are plenty of kids on the playground that want to play football, so before long the football game is as big as the baseball game.
To complete the analogy, I'd have to say they're using a brand-new football and jerseys, instead of a worn-out baseball -- because the message board software here is actually superior in many ways (including the fact we have a domain name that leads right to the board).
In Christ,
Matthew
