    DAILYKENN.com -- 85 people were shot and 24 were killed in Chicago over the weekend of May 29-31, 2020. It was the most violent weekend in Chicago in modern history, according to chicago.suntimes.com.

    The violence continued the following weekend, June 1-3, 2020 with another 35 shot, five of those fatally, Chicago Sun Times reported.

    The increase in black-on-black violence coincides with black-lives-matter protests that have swept the nation. 

    While the is no empirical evidence tying the violence to George Floyd protests, the connection is obvious to many.

    "While Chicago was roiled by another day of protests and looting in the wake of George Floyd’s murder," the report said, "18 people were killed Sunday, May 31, making it the single most violent day in Chicago in six decades, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab. The lab’s data doesn’t go back further than 1961."

    'Black-lives-matter' protesters purports to be fighting to save black lives. In reality, the protests, riots, and looting seem to be having the opposite effect: Black violence is being exasperated. More black lives are being lost than ever. 

    The trend, however, seems to transcend time and geography. According to FBI statistics, 58.2 percent of homicides were committed by blacks; most were black-on-black (2018 statistics). That is disproportionately high, considering about 13 percent of the population is black. Then, considering males commit the preponderance of violence crime, we can assume that about 6.5 percent of the population (black males) are committed well over half of the nation's homicides. When age is considered (ages 18 to 49), we can estimate that about 4 percent of the population — black males ages 18 to 49 — are likely committing well over half of all homicides with most of the victims being black.

    It should not be surprising, then, that white supremacists are the avid supporters of the black-lives-matter movement. 

    Meanwhile, the far-left mainstream media (FL-MSM) is insistent consigning black homicides to white racism. The FL-MSM media is exploiting the George Floyd death to convince us that white people are running amok slaughtering black people. In reality, white rednecks towing fishing boats behind their pick-up trucks tend to be among the first responders when black Americans find themselves victims of natural disasters, such as hurricanes or flooding.

    What do you think? Are the black-lives-matter protests saving lives? Or are they contributing to the atmosphere of hate that is culminating in historic levels of violence in the nation's black neighborhoods?

    In a city with an international reputation for crime — where 900 murders per year were common in the early 1990s — it was the most violent weekend in Chicago’s modern history, stretching police resources that were already thin because of protests and looting.

    “We’ve never seen anything like it, at all,” said Max Kapustin, the senior research director at the crime lab. “ ... I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve ever seen before.”

    The next highest murder total for a single day was on Aug. 4, 1991, when 13 people were killed in Chicago, according to the crime lab.
