So, I've been watching several live feeds of the protests/riots in France, primarily in Paris.
At first I assumed the main participants were immigrants, which is likely the case in smaller
cities but in Paris it is indeed most young people who appear to be native French.
There are also a good number of people over 30 who just seem to be spectators and milling about.
This kind of thing goes back to the Paris commune of 1871, it's embedded in their culture.
I doubt there will be a complete collapse of the government. Macron may be forced to
resign by the small hats to stabilize things. They may even allow Marie Le Pen to become
the next president, but she will be another Meloni. She talks tough about immigration
like Trump but will do very little to deport the invaders.
The country is doomed regardless. Having lived there I can say that leftism is far more
the norm there than it is even in places like NYC or San Francisco. The reason being
that the French have enjoyed free health care, university, an efficient and subsidized public transportation system, etc.
for decades. They have come to expect that whereas leftists here are still far from ever getting
a fraction of these programs. France has been able to do some positive things for the population
because they don't squander trillions on its military.
