Francis declares hell is nonexistant

  • Another pearl of wisdom from Francis:  "...but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls."
    link

The Vatican appears to be doing damage control by stating:  What is reported by the author in today’s article [in La Repubblica] is the result of his reconstruction, in which the textual words pronounced by the Pope are not quoted.

Personally I have no doubt he did say it,  but perhaps he didn't authorize it to be published.

In the days before instantaneous communication, missionaries in foreign countries didn't even know what the current Pope's name was, or if he was alive or dead. They went about their business offering Mass and praying for the Holy Father, inserting the name of the last one they knew about.
    .
Now we have the opposite problem whereby one sentence or one word uttered by the pope goes all around the world in a few seconds.
    .
And of course, the MSM will grab hold of the worst things with gusto, because it gets ratings.
    .
These journalists who don't bother to be careful, have a meeting with the pope and then go away to "reconstruct" the meeting, and they put just the right spin on it so that it will make headlines, for a nice payday in ratings. They don't care what the truth is, nor do they care what the fallout will be when people all over the planet quote the words. All that matters is ratings.
    .
Then to top it off, Bishop-of-Rome Francis probably thinks it's great that what he says makes headlines, hell, he must be doing SOMETHING right!
    .
Oh, right, there is no hell.     ;)

Since this is "one sentence" or one "word" then I would suggest to you that this is another example of how Pope Francis is being quoted out of context.

    wow
but why should we be shocked?
and also, I believe it is the really bad sinners wh do not for whatever reason want to repent who claim there is no hell
in other words: wishful thinking.. lying to yourself

I hear most people in Hell never believed in Hell
not true.. they probably did but didn't think it would be so bad... smell like a septic tank and etc... thought it would be an eternal party or something
I think people do know or at least wonder if there is a Hell... they just don't CARE
they want the things of this world and reject the One who can save them from sin and Hell

  • I wonder why Francis continues to give interviews where there is no docuмentation.  This is not the first time the Vatican has had to do damage control on something that has come out of his loose lips.

If he truly cared about being misquoted then I would think he would make darn sure it couldn't happen by having an audio back-up.  I think he truly doesn't care.  Making a laughing stock out of the papacy must advance a hidden agenda.

  • I wonder why Francis continues to give interviews where there is no docuмentation.  This is not the first time the Vatican has had to do damage control on something that has come out of his loose lips.  If he truly cared about being misquoted then I would think he would make darn sure it couldn't happen [yet again] by having an audio back-up.

There's already a CathInfo topic on Hell & souls as imagined by "Francis", by which "Mr G" won priority-of-origination with ‘"THERE IS NO HELL" -- new Francis revelation’,  almost 7 hours earlier (10:01:02 CDT) on Holy Thursday, as grabbed from a posting on Rorate Cæli (by their own "New Catholic" on March 29, 2018).  To their credit, the needlessly duplicated CathInfo topics were originated in (sub)forums where each was a defensible fit, his being in "Crisis in the Church".  Maybe Matthew would kindly merge these 2 topics for us?

I particularly recommend these replies there:

#23  Ladislaus: March 30, 2018, 20:09:26, which addresses the issue of Vatican putative "damage control" on "interviews where there is no docuмentation".

#29  Neil Obstat: April 01, 2018, 16:10:06, who examined the logical possibilities of the situation created by the opinionated combination of "Francis" and his atheist retired-editor chum Eugenio Scalfari.  It's ironically an excellent refutation of the collected excuses in that topic's reply #32 that robotically followed Neil more than a day later.

#32  poche: April 03, 2018, 03:49:15, grabbed from an excuse-fest by a Hannah Brockhaus at <www.catholicnewsagency.com> (Vatican City, Mar 29, 2018 08:21), which apparently tries to set the bar for minimum credibility way up at exact quotes by "Francis", and apparently is trying to lead readers to infer mere paraphrases can't possibly convey beliefs or ideas accurately.  As if there's only 1 way in Italian to convey the ideas "there is no Hell" and "disappearance of sinful souls".  At the end of the article, Brockhaus' words as posted by poche had failed to expose any flaws in Neil's examination or logic.

Actually the people who are doing the wrong thing are that reporter who lied about what Pope Francis said and those of us who are so ready to believe the worse about what Pope Francis says. Be honest with yourself. There are people here who would complain if Pope Francis were to say that God is good.

:jester: Nobody lies about what Francis says, he's been on the record countless times spouting his heresies for all to hear and read, this one about hell is only his latest.

    In this case there is reason to doubt;
Scalfari’s fifth meeting with Pope Francis, it is not the first time he has misrepresented the Pope’s words following a private audience.
In November 2013, following intense controversy over quotes the journalist had attributed to Francis, Scalfari admitted that at least some of the words he had published a month prior “were not shared by the Pope himself.”

    .
To be accurate, what Bishop-of-Rome Francis has actually said is, "God likes surprises," not that God is good.
    .
You keep calling him the Pope, but he has never said that he is "the Pope." You're putting words into his mouth.
He has only referred to himself as the Bishop of Rome.
    .
Chris Ferrara says Francis is the Vicar of Christ and the Holy Father, but that's not a direct quote either.
Good Catholics are in the practice of keeping Tradition, but here on Easter Sunday, Francis said we have the power to defy tradition.
    .
    Surprise!
    .
Bishop-of-Rome Francis has never once said, "I am the Holy Father" or "I am the Vicar of Christ."
In fact, it seems nobody can find any record of him having ever pronounced the words, "Vicar of Christ."
    .
    Can you?
    .
At some point you ought to be able to face the fact that perhaps you've bought into a false reality.
    .
If you try to put words into his mouth yourself, you shouldn't accuse others, like Eugenio Scalfari, of doing so.

    .
After this latest "surprise" the whole secular world is now FULL of people denying that hell is real.
You can't listen to talk radio for an hour without hearing some wise crack about there is no hell.
And Bishop-of-Rome Francis has nothing to say about that.
    .
We don't have to wonder what Padre Pio would have to say about him.
"He can go ahead and have all his doubts about hell, but he won't have any doubt the moment he arrives there."
    .
Or, perhaps he would say that when Our Lady of Fatima said the Pope would have much to suffer, she wasn't whistling Dixie.

If we are shocked, then Bishop-of-Rome Francis has succeeded because, as he has said, God likes surprises.

  • Pope Francis uses these interviews with "Scalfari" to send out trial balloons to see how the Catholic world reacts.

Imagine:  The reporter is an avowed atheist who never takes notes and reconstructs the conversation after the fact!  And this is the reporter the Bishop of Rome seeks out?

    ?

I think the Bishop of Rome is already on record as saying "there is no Catholic God".
