  • This film shows the good old Hollywood Left at it's finest. Notice that America had not even entered the war yet when this film came out and yet you have the Jєωs in Hollywood pushing America into war. It is also ironic that the Germans and their "Fifth Columnist" sympathizers are portrayed as the butchers and scoundrels while the "praiseworthy English gentlemen" and the Americans are shown as the heroes on the side of "peace and democracy."

    Basically this film can be seen as pro-Communist in my opinion.

  • I'd like to add also another irony: the same year this film came out the Roosevelt Administration was already destroying German U-boats to get America into the war. That does kind of blow away the myth of FDR being an isolationist until Pearl Harbor no?
