  • Here is a website that labels products made in America still. Now remember that you WILL have to pay more for these products but that is because when you buy in America you have to pay for the labor costs while when you buy overseas you pay for cheap foreign labor and products that enter tax and duty free, which is why tariffs are important when it comes to giving American workers the advantage. Remember that American workers have more laws and higher wages in this nation when compared to cheap slave labor overseas.

HOWEVER remember when you buy American you support American workers and you also DO NOT destroy the value of the dollar, which is what happens when you buy foreignly. Also you usually buy from small businesses while when you buy foreignly you buy from big corporations like Wal-Mart which are immoral behemoths.

  • Thanks as always, TG20.
In addition, we resolved a few months ago to spend/donate our money with trad Catholics as much as possible.  That is, finding out who at our parish are tradesmen, merchants, small business owners, insurance agents, etc.  We must help each other first.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a trad Catholic central website, with a compilation of services?  Then if I couldn't find a product locally via someone at my parish, I could research the site.
I wish I was smart/savvy enough to coordinate such an effort.

  • I supported the "buy American" mentality until November 2008.  But after seeing crazy labor leaders rant on C-SPAN and the very significant role unions played in electing this moslem or atheist or whatever he is, I don't concern myself with it so much these days.  If leadership of this country was in more appropriate hands, I would favor protectionist measures such as Traditional Guy has set out in other threads.  But I believe the unions are, at least currently, Marxist, and need reined in and tamed.

I believe the policies of Pat Buchanan would have decimated the need for and the role of evil unions.  I believe America has suffered, and will continue to do so, more for not electing Pat Buchanan than any other losing presidential candidate that I can think of.

  • OHCA you know Muslims do not support abortion or gαy marriage. Obama is not a Muslim, although he is Leftist of course. Whetehr one supports unions or not (yes unions can be outlandish sometimes) I buy American simply so I do not destroy the value of the dollar, but as you pointed that even that can be a problem with the inflation caused by the Federal Reserve.

  • Was Obama born a Muslim?

Islam is traced through either the father or the mother so if one was born a muslim then they can embrace a different religion but they are considered apostates.

What is the whole story about Obama's muslim ties?

  • I would be inclined to buy american, because it supports u.s. workers, instead of foreign workers.

  • On that link that Trad Guy provided is a shoemaker named Allen Edmonds.

It has been well over two years since a non-Allen Edmond shoe has been on my feet.

The other American brand that I have a great amount of respect for is Alden.  They make a great shoe.

Once again, if it's not about race, I almost always agree with you.

I had to shop quickly during the years that my husband was fighting "terminal cancer."  Long before that, however, we had made efforts to boycott Chinese products, and could avoid Chinese products much of the time...

Recently, after my husband passed, I heard about notes smuggled out of China in products like Halloween decorations. One recent note read something like "help! We are enslaved at these factories!" And it had already been sitting in someone's closet for about one year... Though still dealing with family issues, I remembered our boycott.

Resolved to go back to checking every label to buy American toothbrushes, combs, etc., I recently saw that everything has changed dramatically since my husband's first diagnosis:  there was NOT ONE TOOTHBRUSH (or any other similar product)at the top three stores made in ANY OTHER COUNTRY but CHINA, and that means nothing made in Mexico, India, the U.S. or any other country!

Shockingly: In recent years, a traveling display of "donated" human bodies has been a "big hit" in major American cities.  They are real human bodies, without the skin (having been peeled back and preserved in special plastic). They were marketed so as to display the "beauty of the human musculature and form."  Physicians gradually discovered that they were nearly (or always) "Oriental" corpses, and that many had evidence of a bullet-hole in the skull.  Medical students here protested, and it may have turned to the display of animal bodies--for now.  This is yet another very ominous portent.  One day relatively soon, we may be their slave labor.  We may even eventually adorn their "museums" when we aren't suited to work.  Stranger things have happened on Earth before...

I'm as serious as I know how to be on this.  Please, can anyone tell me how to avoid buying Chinese products?

    God Save U.S. & All,
    AnneCatherine

Don't shop at big corporations, especially Wal-Mart. Don't shop at any department store at the mall. Make sure you check the label to see where the product came from.

Honestly every year it keeps getting harder to buy American-made products because so many businesses pack their bags and go overseas.

Yes, I heard there was a huge scandal at Walmart!  Thanks for the information, and I really appreciate it. However, I still do not see ANY plastic items like toothbrushes made anywhere else but China.

Do you know of any way out of getting personal items from the PRC?

We want to do everything possible.

    Sincerely,
    AnneCatherine

The site I posted has one site that sells toothbrushes made here in America I believe. Yeah I know pretty shocking that only one company still sells toothbrushes made here.

  • I never gave a thought to where my toothbrushes come from.  I will now.  Thank you both.
