  • Women are so lucky to have Feminism today!  I didn't use to think this, but I was recently "convinced" by something I read on The Internet.  Basically, it came down to this:  women won The Vote, The Right To Own Property and A Job.  That seemed like three legs on a stool, designed to hold up the proposition that Feminism was actually good for women.  Somehow that seemed unlikely to me.

Women are lucky because they get to work now.  Ha ha ha;  most Americans enjoy free time and complain about work.

I checked The Department of Labor's statistics on The American Labor Force and found that prior to Feminism, the labor force consisted of about 1/4 of the population, but after Feminism it consisted of around 1/2 the population.  I also looked into the standard of living for Americans.  One thing I found was that the average American Family used to be able to afford large homes and big cars on one income.  Nowadays, they can afford small homes and small cars on two incomes.  That doesn't make much sense, since America has become extremely more productive than it used to be, simply because of gains in technology.  If the average American worker and factory can produce for example 10xs what it used to, then they should be enjoying at least a share of that wealth, but instead, they appear to be getting less and less of it.  It seems like American workers are getting ripped off and women have been put to work, to increase the pay off to the thieves.  All the while, women are told how lucky they are.  Ouch.

The Right To Vote.  Oh boy, this right makes me feel so powerful!  Ha ha.  President Bush promised no nation building and invaded Iraq, President Obama promised one trillion dollars to rebuild infrastructure and gave it to the banks, President Reagan promised to balance the budget and tripled the annual budget deficit, President Clinton promised jobs and gave us NAFTA and on and on.  Most American are used to being betrayed by their elected officials.  Yet, their vote is supposed to mean something?  Obama promised to end The War, but he expanded it!  Reagan promised to reduce the size of government, but he expanded it!  In the end, both parties appear to pursue very similar agendas, but merely have different campaign tactics.  That ends up meaning everybody's vote is worthless.

The Right To Own Property.  This one confused me.  Were women really denied the right to home a house in 1909?  I don't think so.  What are these Feminists talking about then?  I think what they really mean is The Right To Inherit Property and not really a legal right, so much as a Social Right.  Property inheritance used to be based on a person's rank, usually by birth.  Thus, a father might leave his property to his oldest son, who would be entrusted with the duty of caring for his mother and family.  A man without sons might entrust his estate to his eldest son in law, who would have the duty of caring for his mother in law and family.  With Feminism, the expectation/the proper thing became leaving the estate to the wife or perhaps a daughter instead.  Really, it could be anyone.  So, it went from being an orderly process to a rat race.  How has this chaos helped women?  I don't think it has helped anyone.  Basically, power has gone up for grabs and in the process has shifted all over the place.   Not only has this created instability, but it has encouraged family members to compete with each other, instead of cooperating.
