I have heard about something that I thought was interesting. In those areas under German occupation during World War II the Church did something which troubles me. I read that the Church printed many thousands of fake baptismal certificates and gave them to Jєωs so that they could pretend to be Catholics and escape persecution. I don't see how this could be done without sin. It is lying and promoting of lies. I thought it was sinful to lie even for a good reason and the Church did just that (if what I read is true). Does anyone else have an opinion about this matter?

I have read in an Old Catholic book that even to tell a lie to save a life is an offense against God. However having said this: How many of us would do it, tell a lie to save another.

It might have happened that way Matto, I don't know, but you must remember that the Church even the True Popes have sinned and some have sinned gravely. Yet, they did not change the teachings of the Church.

I agree with your assessment. Further, consider what came of it. The very same Pope who ordered it was and continues to be slandered as "Hitler's Pope."
