  •   It seems to be a movie stereotype: They show you a catholic household with stern catholic (grand) parents, guardians etc. as abusive simply because they want their children to be polite and pure....
Then the child's savior comes, usually a boy friend or a modern-minded teacher/governess to rescue and liberate him or her. Then it is conflict and at the end ''good ones'' win and ''evil parents'' admit that they have been wrong!
All the time you are made to believe that God is on the side of the ''good ones''.
    Why? Will someone resist them?

Yes it's very powerful propaganda.  But unfortunately it's a common story in real life, (not the phony representation, but the happening of a girl raised in a Catholic family being seduced by the world) because of the folly of Catholic parents.
