I grew up being told ad nauseam that we had to save the planet from destruction, by learning to conserve our resources. Not coincidentally I think, this was kicked off circa the 1970s, when jobs were being offshored, unemployment was up, wages were flatlining and inflation was skyrocketing. Yeah, we'd all have to "conserve," because we couldn't afford not to!
So, they gut our economy, like pirates and then tell us to pretend that all the cutting back we have to do isn't because our leaders betrayed us and our wealth is being looted, but rather we're cutting back because we love the planet and want to preserve it for future generations. That is especially ironic, since so many of us decided to have a lot less kids, than previous generations did in order to cut back on expenses. Not surprisingly, we were also told that would "save the planet" too!
Well, I'll stick with "the ugly truth:" we're all cutting back, because they looted our economy and the planet is fine and it could happily sustain lots more of us!
