  • I got this message in my email box this morning.  The thing that gave me pause, is the fact that all BCP can cause blood clots as a side effect.  Now, this email is somehow implying that missing your period is what causes the problem (even though this simply isn't true).

What's scary is that this email seems to imply that other BCP, ones that have a break in hormones, allowing monthly bleeding (although it's not a cycle, because usually no ovulation occurred), are somehow better, and don't have side effects when they most certainly do.

All hormonal supplementation has grave side effects, from blood clots, to cancer, which is why hormones should only be used in grave circuмstances.  For example, progesterone to help a mother carry a baby to term, or steroids to help heal wounds that otherwise won't etc.  Everyday use of hormones for birth control is not only immoral, it's dumb medicine.
