I found the angst some are having over this a bit bemusing, and lots of hyperbole in the video. PLEANTY (innumerable perhaps) of internal combustion powered vehicles have stopped dead in traffic for one reason or another. And yes, sometimes with the transmission “stuck” in a gear because of computer or mechanical issue, and the interlock system preventing the vehicle from starting. It is a simple matter of dropping the driveline to allow the rear wheels to “free wheel”. With front wheel and all-wheel drive rigs the tow truck will have those lifted up. They can put a dolly under the rear tires if need be. It’s always irritating to have a rig stall but it is rarely catastrophic and can always be dealt with.
Neither the tech nor the infrastructure are ready for EVs to be anything but an expensive toy niche.
Defiantly. The same was true when the internal combustion automobile was first introduced. Only the VERY rich could afford them and they usually couldn’t travel far from the city where they lived as the infrastructure of petro stations and tire repair shops (the roads back then were hard on tires) was not developed nor well distributed and there weren’t many skilled mechanics. On the other hand even most small towns had a blacksmith who could shoe your horse and repair your wagon wheel, and they had livery stables where you could board your horse for the night or even trade it for a fresh one.
