  • Disney, Marvel to boycott Georgia if Religious Freedom bill passes

Georgia has been the shooting location for several of the blockbuster films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, that could change if Gov. Nathan Deal signs a Religious Freedom bill into law, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia,we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law," a spokesman said on Wednesday, according to the Reporter.

Marvel films "Ant-Man," "Captain America: cινιℓ ωαr" and "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" have all shot at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. The Reporter cites favorable tax incentives as to the heavy use of the studio for the Marvel movies.

The Reporter also said that while the statement specifically mentioned Marvel, other Disney units would participate in the boycott as well.

The Human Rights Campaign Fund also asked Hollywood to boycott shooting in the Peach State if the controversial bill passes.

Critics of the bill - which was approved March 16 by Georgia’s Republican-controlled General Assembly - say it legalizes discrimination. Supporters say the bill protects Georgians’ right to exercise their religious beliefs.

  • I hope they stop making those comic book movies in Georgia, and anywhere else. They're all dreck.
Some would have people believe that I'm a deceiver because I've used various handles on different Catholic forums. They only know this because I've always offered such information, unprompted. • Interestingly, Georgia doesn't have a No Religious Test Clause in its constitution, according to this:

  • Those at Disney and Marvel should be more concerned about what God thinks of them.
