  • Saw this post recently, and wanted to start a discuss here.

The idea seems good, I do hope it works out but I am worried about any potential doctrinal errors as there is a distinction between different groups of Traditional Catholic. I wonder if they will ever get a debate or something with the Dimonds. I look forward to seeing what comes from it.

  • I have no idea what this is supposed to be.  Their website is about as clear as mud.

From the 8-minute video it looks like the focus is on the pre-V2 classics. Joshua Charles is a convert who came around after reading the Patristics, so it may be that the goal is about reasserting the Catholicity of Christianity away from the Protestants.

If anything's concerning, it seems really ambitious in how much they want to do with the scope of this project. So I'm wondering who the backers are.
Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things pass away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. He who has God finds he lacks nothing; God alone suffices. - St. Teresa of Jesus

It's a media project to develop podcasts, audio, print, a mega Bible of some sort () and a digital repository. It's covered in the last minute or so of the video. Below is from all the way down on their web page.

We at Eternal Christendom believe that nothing less than a new era of Patronage can ensure the survival, indeed the revival of the Great Tradition. To that end, we seek Patrons to help us build these Five Masterpieces. Learn more by hovering over the icons below.

Here's the part about that planned Bible:

    Quote
The Eternal Christendom Bible will be the most comprehensive Catholic apologetics Bible ever created. It will incorporate art, illustrations, charts, illuminated pages, in-depth commentary, along with stories and quotes from Church Fathers, Saints, and Church teaching over the last 2,000 years.

It will show that the Bible truly is a Catholic book, entrusted to the Church for faithful preservation and interpretation.

This will be the standard Bible for any Catholic who desires to dive deeper into the reasons we believe, and any non-Catholic of goodwill who is open to having the case for the Catholic Faith made directly from the pages of Scripture.

  • I wouldn’t pin my hopes on him. After all he embraces ʝʊdɛօ Christianity. Beware of new converts. He could turn out to be another Taylor Marshall.

  • Yeah, still not grasping their intent here.  Just combining a Catholic Bible with some Catholic commentary?  Digitizing "classics" ... that's been done already for a very many books.

These sort of projects emerge about every three to four years for decades now -- always reinventing the wheel and so often unvolving converts.
