    • Today has been an active day in astronomy.

    First announced today was 2003 EL61, an outer solar system object that is possibly the largest known solar system object after Pluto.

    But the announcement a few hours later of 2003 UB313 stole their thunder.

    The article carefully calls this the first thing larger than Pluto found in the outer solar system.
    Dwarf planet Eris, while more massive than Pluto, is a smaller.

    • It would be "fascinating" to actually see such wonders up close and personal. It takes light 4 to 7 hours from Earth to Pluto, depending on orbits. Alas without warp speeds, we are not going anywhere fast.

    But if we had .......... :D
