Title: Did I Hear Correctly? Geico Sacrilege?
Post by: Seraphina on July 31, 2019, 03:52:29 PM
I have on the car radio for a traffic report, and a Geico commercial came on.  I think I heard “Asperges me... “ in the background.  At the end, “Amen.”

I have an appointment now, but will definitely investigate this further, unless someone with more media access can enlighten us before then.

They probably just picked something off of a fair use music service, which allows them to avoid licensing fees (which can be six figures) by licensing a popular song.

They might not have known, especially because the world of "people who know what Asperges Me is" is really just Trad Catholics, Anglo-Catholics/Western Rite Orthodox and people who study Western choral music.

Unless they did something inappropriate with it, perhaps I wouldn't go so far as to call it Sacrilege.

They probably just picked something...

In my mind it's more probable that professional ads folks are initiated masons/rosicrucians/other cabbalists.
