Two Dead After Democrat Minnesota Lawmakers Shot at Their Homes in ‘Politically Motivated’ Attacks, Suspect at Large

Democrat leader Melissa Hortman recently split with Party, voted to block taxpayer-funded benefits for illegals.




Two Democrat legislators and their spouses were shot at their homes early Saturday, with one couple suffering fatal wounds in what is being labeled a politically motivated attack.
Police are searching for an unknown assailant they say impersonated a police officer before shooting and killing State Rep. Melissa Hortman (Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party – District 34B), 55, and her husband Mark overnight in Brooklyn Park. 
State Senator John Hoffman (DFL), 60, and his wife Yvette were reportedly shot by the same suspect multiple times in Champlin. The pair underwent surgery and are expected to survive.
Minnesota. Gov. Tim Walz (D) lamented the shootings, calling them “a politically motivated assassination,” though he did not provide further details.
 
Hortman earlier this week split with her party and voted to repeal healthcare for illegal aliens.
“I did what leaders do, I stepped up and I got the job done for the people of Minnesota,” she said. “I know that people will be hurt by that vote…and we worked very hard to get a budget deal that didn’t include that provision,” she added tearfully.
