It is a bit like incorporating some monastic values and practices into our lay people life.

Monasticism is not for everyone, but it seems to me that certain elements of it are essential to develop your spiritual life.

Get evicted and move into your vehicle.  That takes care of material clutter.
The mental, emotional, and spiritual clutter are the most difficult to declutter.

Many years before I was married, I had just paid off the car, but when the oil was changed they forgot to put cap back on and engine ceased.  Then I lost my job and was evicted.  I slept on park bench for a while….
