I know that on the one hand "even one death isn't worth 100 million dollars".
Nevertheless, we all have to die sometime! We are mortal, and death is a natural part of life on this earth.
Keeping that in mind --
You have to ADD the lives saved due to the shutdown and THEN subtract the deaths from COVID/flu/mixed causes/whatever.
Therefore: total deaths per week seems to be the most objective measure of how we're doing -- how many NET LIVES ARE BEING SAVED OR LOST.
I know you know this, but money isn't just money either. I know plenty of people, me included, that have said stuff about being concerned about "the economy." Not one of us is concerned about the wealth of billionaires, corporate CEOs, or anything like that, but the livelihoods of regular people.
Supporting the shutdown despite the cost is one thing, but ignoring it is insane
