  • This Christmas season, countless people will be purchasing items for their loved ones. With so much money being spent, it is important to know what the companies you purchase from do with your money.

The Independent Journal Review compiled a list of two dozen companies that help fund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
    They include:

    • Adobe
    • American Express
    • Bank of America
    • Ben & Jerry’s
    • Bath & Body Works
    • Clorox
    • Converse
    • Dockers
    • Energizer
    • Expedia
    • Frito Lay
    • Groupon
    • Johnson & Johnson
    • Kraft Heinz
    • Levi Strauss
    • March of Dimes
    • Microsoft
    • Nike
    • PepsiCo

  • I thought this was going to be "Oh boy, I can't avoid supporting PP unless I become an Amish and live an 1800's lifestyle where I create all my own food and goods from scratch."

    But it's not really.

Microsoft, for example, is huge. But we don't have Xboxes here, and we're a Linux household. So no Microsoft support in this house!

Same with Adobe. I use all open source free software that runs on Linux. I don't use Photoshop; I use the almost-as-capable but completely free Gimp instead.

We don't buy anything Frito-Lay, because the local grocery magnate HEB produces store brand food which is completely equal to the brand name and at least 1% cheaper. I never experienced this before I moved to Texas. Imagine store brand Ruffles and Doritos that are indistinguishable from the original. I wouldn't have believed it before I actually tried HEB store brand stuff.

We don't happen to buy Ben & Jerry's. Being Texans, we prefer Blue Bell. And the aforementioned HEB has great ice cream for a lower price.

Johnson & Johnson? We tend to buy store brand band-aids since they work just as well. I don't see how brand name is important for things like cotton balls, shampoo, ointments, and band-aids.

March of Dimes is easy to avoid. All our charity stays within the Household of the Faith let's just say. And it's not like I have a ton of extra money to begin with. The scant money I can spare can all go to faithful priests and bishops of the Resistance.

Clorox is a waste; sodium hypochlorite is sodium hypochlorite. I always buy off brand bleach, and I would do so even if it were literally 0.01 cheaper. There is NO advantage to name brand for things like medicines and chemicals.

Starbucks. Who needs overpriced coffee? If we drank coffee, we'd invest in a machine to make it easy to make cappuchinos and whatnot.

    And so on.

  • Same here as Matthew, with one exception in which I have no real choice, Pfizer.  I take one medication produced by them, not yet available in generic form, and which I take in order to function normally.  As for brand name clothes, toiletries, junk food snacks, computer stuff, I don't buy it.  Food and toiletries are the store brand, I buy all but undergarments at thrift stores, and I do not like Starbucks coffee!  I do not use the Bank of America, and I'm not sure what Expedia is---something computer related?  Since I don't know, I probably don't buy or use it!
